finally watched this, it was fun as hell. like having a sugar rush for an hour and 40 minutes straight. the final confrontation was a bit of a fizzle, but everything else slapped

my second favourite DC behind Shazam I think

really making all the female and poc fronted films hbo max and not theaters huh

 

While I know this is really a shitty thing to do - there’s a part of me that feels like more people might end up watching it as an HBO exclusive. I don’t think DC has quite built up enough goodwill to get folks right back to theaters so maybe that convenience factor will get the film an audience it might not otherwise have. Hopefully that doesn’t come across in a bad way - I can definitely see the concern with their lack of confidence and support for a female/poc led film.

 

it sucks that it won’t be in theaters (maybe they can pull for some limited screenings?), but i can’t tell if it’s solely their lack of trust for a woc-led film or they just took note of how bop underperformed

batgirl and static shock and Michael B Jordan superman, so a mix of female fronted and poc

 

The Michael B Jordan makes sense because it's going to be a limited series with multiple episodes. The rest is just WB being dumb. They should do what the MCU is doing with Disney+. Only release series on streaming, leave movies to theatrical.

 

I feel like from the beginning Warner's plan for the DC Universe has been to look at what Marvel did to achieve their success, and then promptly do the exact opposite, whatever that entails.

 

Why though?
