the valid criticism doesn't discredit what ever positive he's done. but despite certain positives I do believe certain individuals water down socialism and leftist ideology - your AOCs, Hasanbi's, etc.

as for general twitch streamer and youtuber discourse, i feel that there is a weird online drama mill that is perhaps algorithmically driven that is godawful and I rather avoid.

 

Perhaps…but there’s also value in charismatic people to put out content on the internet being the ‘gospel’ and educating others about stuff that they might not know about/hear about otherwise. I don’t think we have be all “but you don’t organize!” to them hah

to this point, I first “heard” of him last school year when one of my AP Gov students told me about his YouTube channel and liked listening to him and his perspective. I didn’t realize until later when I looked up his name that I had seen plenty of his tweets haha

 

hasan doesnt "water down leftist ideology" nearly as much as AOC does and i would consider him more of a leftist than at least half the people who post in this thread. but apparently im not a real leftist and my perspective doesnt matter

 

yes there certainly is. it is also important to remember that criticism is not an attack or necessarily adismissal of one's contributions

 

I liked Hasan back when he was on TYT, but U haven't really paid much attention to him since he went solo.

 

not sure how you get that from Jake's post tbh. there's no basis for assuming these things.

 

Even if criticizing Hasan for this is justified, it's nonetheless a pretty big waste of time.

 

the thing is socialism cannot be built by the propagating of socialist ideas no matter how positive its effects. such an idea is very utopian socialism. scientific socialism assesses that socialism cannot be built without class struggle and revolution, this requires organizing, specifically imo a vanguardist party.

 

The cheapest current listing for a detached home in West Hollywood is 1.2 million dollars for a 2 bedroom house. So if he buys that and donated 1.8 million to charities, does it change the negative response? It definitely doesn't change the systemic failures that have caused an exponentially growing need for charity in our country.
