Understood, but I would have to assume that there are other sites that have sprung up over the last year or so to create competition and provide a reasonable alternative. Regardless, it's hard to imagine that this vacuum will last long with the amount of profit potentially available

 

There are other sites, but none as popular or with the same % payout to talent, ease of use for performers and for members.
The audience generally does not all follow either and OF bans most of the words of it's competitors so the talent can't just put out a message on the platform saying "Hey, come see me at ____" because they could get banned and lose everything from OF.

if the credit card company is threatening to cut you off and you're response is to go "Okay fine" without any attempts to stand up for your workers... how are you not a capitalist pig treating the sex workers whom you used to build your company as disposable resources that can instantly be cast aside in favor of profits?

 

I'm sure they tried negotiating, but there is no standing up to the credit card companies.
If OF says "screw you" then they lose Visa and MC.

That screws their workers FAR FAR worse than what they're doing right now.

Doing what they're doing now allows at least some time for current workers to get their payouts and try to make adjustments to the new rules/model.

It's not ideal, but as that tweet thread I linked points out, the consequences are much much worse otherwise.
