I think the Observatory nightmare really freaked them out lol, to be fair as it kind of should so it's nice to see they're taking a bit more precaution in some way. Notice how they're going with a different pressing plant this time, at least I think it's different.

Seems like Target, Walmart and BrooklynVegan/Revolver each have their own variants. Target has Red Smoke, Walmart has Pink with Black, and BrooklynVegan/Revolver have Gold Static. I'm pretty happy with my Cerebellum though.

this is dumb imo. we are 18 months into this. people are extremely used to vinyl delays. put the album out when you originally planned and expect the physical copies after imo.

Pretty sure that Soundscan changed how they track vinyl preorders since Covid so that they no longer count towards first week sales (instead it’s the week they actually release). A band like Underoath who will have a ton of traditional album sales is likely wanting to capitalize on sales from all sources to have a strong charting in the first week. I don’t think it’s as simple as them just releasing the vinyl after the release day anymore.

Sounds like it’s a bummer for the band. You can tell they’re stoked on it and just want to put it out.

hallelujah is pretty cool. nitpicky but my god what an awful snare sound. otherwise sounds great and sounds like an actually interesting take on what was going on with erase me. but some shades of lost in the sound of separation in there.

Agreed 10000% on the snare sounds. I wish they’d just track drums with Goldman. Some of the best sounding drums on any record are on LITSOS and Disambiguation

Those DTGL leaks were wild, still remember my friends saying Spencer was trying to sound like Dallas. Side note: First two Maylene albums ripped.

Goldman is such a drum master. Got a chance to track drums with him once and he’s legit a wizard, blew my mind the whole time.

  16. I can't remember who it was, I think someone in the pop landscape (Halsey, Kesha, Grimes?), but they had their album leak on the initial release date as a random store didn't get the memo or something, even though it was scheduled to be released 2 - 3 months later. Not saying this might happen, but they will have to be extra careful to avoid a similar situation.

At this point, if it does leak, I will listen to it immediately. I've ordered every vinyl variant and I want to hear this NOW.

You'd think a new giant vinyl plant would have opened by now that could drastically reduce production delays for making them

I understand their reasoning behind this. But I really hope it doesn't backfire on them. I can't imagine hype consistently lasting for 5 and a half more months. There's also the chance of this leaking in October as many other retailers usually have digital downloads set for release from before.

I'm kinda disappointed since these guys have usually had a quick rollout (2 months or so). But at the end of the day it is their album and their choice (as well as the label's).

the only one of those ive heard was as cities burn and i hated it lol. also not sure if i would enjoy a classic crime album from 2020 but im slightly curious because i loved their first two when i was much, much younger
