I just don't understand why most venues just won't require proof of vaccination (Or recent neg. covid test). Is it greed? Or are there legal circumstances they have to go through?

Not sure, but pretty sure a bunch of venues in NY State will be requiring a vaccine. I know the Bills have already announced they’ll be requiring vaccines for all attendees.

It’s all because they don’t want to lose money by not allowing unvaccinated people who make up a significant portion of customers.

  4. I went to a couple shows at The Comedy Store in LA a week or so ago, and the day that I flew back to Utah, the California governor issued a mask mandate requiring everyone to wear masks indoors at public places. And a couple days later, The Comedy Store said they will now require masks and proof of vaccine, which is cool. I really hope more venues where large crowds will be will take the same steps.

I honestly have no idea how to handle indoor shows at this point. On one hand, I understand the need for masks due to the unvaccinated/variant but on the other hand, fuck, it just does NOT seem feasbile especially if places serve food/booze. Broadway in NYC announced they would require masks + vax. I suppose the less time spent with masks off (i.e. only when eating/drinking) limits the amount of chance of transmission but really don't know what to think at this point.

For those who transmitted the virus who were vaccinated to other vaccinated people, any info on the severity of the cases? I feel like we should be concerned with hospitalization rates/deaths as opposed to cases.

So I masked up last week at the Japanese Breakfast show with a KN95 because it was sold out with no social distancing rules. For indoor shows? It's gonna be a double mask for me OR a KN95 because I'm not taking any chances. The venue DID NOT require proof of vaccination and I know it'd be something that would make me feel better, knowing that venues DO require one now.

With outdoor shows, I'm now considering masking out there too, but with a fabric mask instead of a KN95, despite being fully vaccinated. It's just incredible to me how things are still being handled a year and a half into this whole mess.

Honestly I'm super nervous for the upcoming week. My first shows back are next weekend and things with the Delta are getting worse. I have no problem masking up, it's just hearing about cancelations/postponements again is what's getting to me. I hope they somehow can make shows require proof of vaccine but it's most likely not going to happen since venues don't want to lose money. What angers me is that we could have been better prepared for this wave if we had higher vaccinations.

That’s the thing because no private company is going to do the right thing because it loses them money. And America sure as hell isn’t shutting down again, so it seems like either mask TF up or don’t go to shows.

    The intrusive whisper fascinates me

My first show back is supposed to be Joyce Manor at the Hollywood Palladium and I’m low-key having second thoughts about going. If the mask mandate is still in place, wearing a mask in a big, hot room for 3-4 hours sounds miserable*. On the flip side, if mask restrictions are relaxed, idk if I’m comfortable doing it with the uncertainty of the delta variant.

Ugh. This whole situation is such a bummer. Wish more people would just get vax’d

*just wanna add, I still plan on wearing my mask everywhere (work, errands, etc.) but wearing my mask around thousands of other people crammed together in a theater doesn’t sound like a good time to me, and I’d honestly rather pass

Not even sure how much a mask would help when thousands of people are crammed into a small area with people standing and sweating all over each other in a hot, muggy room.

  16. And there’s no chance that even half the crowd will actually wear their mask the whole time. You know as soon as they get into the crowd, masks will be flying off left and right.

Wearing a mask for an entire 2 hour flight was pretty rough. I can’t imagine being in a sweaty room, dancing around, singing along with a few bands for a couple hours and being at all comfortable wearing a mask the whole time.

all venues need to move to vaccinated only at this point

Hard agree for all venues to be vaccinated only. Masks for a 3-4 hour show would be absolutely miserable, not followed by many and wouldn’t do anything to reduce risk compared to allowing only vaccinated to attend.

Even though I handed them my drivers license they still managed to get my birthday wrong on my vaccination card. I didn't notice until days after my 2nd shot because, ya know, I handed them my damn license so I didn't think they'd get it wrong. I hope that isn't a major hurdle if/when I try to get into a show that requires proof.

Went to Rise Against in NYC tonight, and I could have sworn Ticketmaster had a blurb about how vaccines or the Excelsior app would be checked at doors. Nothing, no masks either. It was outside, so could have been worse I guess, but that's definitely the closest I've been to 3,400 people in years...
