After listening to this twice through on a long run, I’m loving it. I think ending with two super restrained songs in a row is maybe a mistake, but I really dig the album through “45.” And I still like those last two songs, just feels like it runs out of gas a bit.

This was good background music while feeding my daughter and putting her back to sleep this morning.

Strange Behavior is a little throwback I wasn't expecting.

I feel like I have to turn up the volume every time a new track starts

Did anyone get their LP yet? I think mine's coming today. Curious about how it'll sound with the volume.

  6. It's like listening to music your neighbor is playing too loud in a poorly insulated apartment complex.

I have some qualms with how it sounds in parts, but I feel like it's definitely been exaggerated here. I guess everyone's ears are different.

I get the muddled vocals aspect of the production complaints (though it doesn't bother me personally), but I haven't had any volume issues at all, both on headphones and in my car.

It's such an obvious fuck up in mastering that I can't believe nobody fixed it.

I'm by no means an expert, but this is one of the worst sounding records this year.

I was really hoping the production stuff was exaggerated.

Don’t Go Dark rules and is the only thing that really stands out to me on first listen. I also thought the new arrangement of Strange Behavior was nice. Maybe he’ll put a restrained acoustic version of It Gets Better on the next album.

Volume issues way more glaring than production choices imo. Stylistically I can totally understand preferring the sound of the prior two records, I probably do myself, but there are only a few moments here where I think the reverb and echo really betray the songs.

Yeah, the actual production choices don’t really bother me. The volume stuff is bizarre though. Have people who listened on streaming experiences the same issues with that?

Probably not as bad on streaming since from what I know they have their own normalization algorithm so music across the platform all appears to be at the same loudness level, to an extent obviously it doesn’t completely work and ends up just ruining a bunch of mastering jobs. I thought it was noticeable, just a really odd mastering job on this one you’ve gotta wonder if it was just rushed or something?

"Rushed" isn't how most Bleachers fans would describe this release lol

Yeah I know. I just didn't want to miss an opportunity to poke fun at how long it took for this album to arrive and here we are disappointed about things that shouldn't be an issue for an album that took so long to put out.

I’ve been listening on apple music and definitely have to adjust the volume every other song

Just bewildering. Maybe it will create enough buzz that they’ll release a remastered version?

Wow people are not kidding about the production and sound on this. How can the live performance on Jimmy Fallon sound better than the studio version of How Dare You Want More?

Tbf a lot of Bleachers songs are actually better live, feel like that'll be the case for these songs too

It’s frustrating that this would probably be my favorite Bleachers album if it was mastered(mixed? Idk music terms) differently.
