So a couple weeks ago I was camping with some friends were the weekend. Had no cell service so my 6S was in airplane mode the whole time. Ended up losing it somewhere at the campground and after hours of searching, could not find it. Couldn't use Find My iPhone because it was in airplane mode. This happened August 7th.

Get a note from the campground dated August 19th that they found my phone. I had already gotten a new one by then and obviously this one they found isn't going to work after sitting outside for a few weeks. They mail it back to me and by some miracle after plugging it in for a few minutes the damn thing powers back on and works perfectly fine. I'm amazed that it sat outside for that long and still worked.

 

So supposedly the iPhone 7 will come with the lightning to aux dongle. That's good.

 

Perhaps this has been mentioned throughout this thread but does anyone know what the 'other' is on MacBook storage?

I just checked my storage yesterday and it was 49GB of music, 17 GB of photos and videos and like 37GB of other, leaving me with under 10GB of free space. Other than music and photos, I really have nothing on my Mac. No documents or anything like that. I just use it for music, photos and searching the internet.

My trash is also empty.

 

And that's what would make me okay with the missing aux port. Give me a way to not make my current set of headphones not obsolete and I'm in.

Other is typically library files, temp update files, etc. You can clear this out by deleting messages from iMessage, running any software updates you may have, limiting what's in Dropbox if you're using sync, as well as running CCleaner for Mac.

Another great application to help out with this is called Daisy Disk, I think it's on the cheaper side, but you should give it a shot if you're really treading that closely to filling up your startup disk, you'll need to start clearing some stuff out. You should always leave 15-20% MINIMUM free on your Start Up disk.

 

Suggest moving your music to iCloud Music and also using an hdd for keeping your music files local and creating a time machine backup, as well.

 

Can anyone recommend a good To Do app? Something I can use to organize by when things are due.

 

im a big fan of Glass Planner; it doesn't list things by date, but you scroll through days instead and can use an in-app calendar.

I like the app, but hate the icon (I don't know why but it's a thing)

 

I hate Fantasticals as well. Eye sores.

 

Its more of a reminders app, but 'Due' is amazing and controls a ton of my life.

Oh yea, that's today huh.

 

My 6 Plus is ready for an upgrade.

 

I just hate that the 7 still has the same screen resolution as the 6 and 6s.

 

on the fence about upgrading my 6 or holding out for ome more year so this should be interesting.

 

I have one year left on my contract so I'll be waiting for next year regardless but this should still be an interesting day. Haven't missed one of these in years and what better place to hang out during it than Chorus.

 

I haven't been paying attention, is it just iPhones today or is there any chance of new MBPs too?

 

I thought it was just the iPhones, but who knows. I think my wife is gonna want the 7 plus, or whatever they're calling it.

 

Probably just new iPhones and Apple Watches. MBPs should be a little later this year.
