    Wrong! Lol

Seriously, it made me appreciate Cali. Like, it feels like a bridge from Cali to NINE. Like the best of both. Bottom of the Ocean is so dark and perfect! Ok i need to sleep.

  3. Agreed. There's maybe 3 songs on the deluxe version that I ever go back to.

Deluxe is awful. That’s as cookie cutter as it gets for the genre.

couldn't get more cookie cutter than that chorus, but somehow it's still not the worst one on there.

    Things have changed.

"Long Lost Feeling" is the only worthwhile song on the deluxe, in my opinion. One of the few songs that has any emotional resonance – even then, the greatness of the song is at times suffocated by Feldmann's production. "Misery" is a close second.

The rest ranges from meh to very bad. "6/8" is particularly egregious. It's like they wanted to do a loud/quiet thing like "Stockholm Syndrome" again but totally missed the point of why that song was so great.

I have a somewhat complicated history with Blink-182. I bought Dude Ranch in '97 on the strength of "Damnit" and figured they'd be just another one of those semi-successful Warped Tour bands (a la Less Than Jake, MxPx, etc.) When they blew up in '99 I remember being irritated that people like my little brother liked them and also annoyed that they were eclipsing Green Day and Offspring's popularity while acting, what I deemed at the time, as really immature. Now that the dust has settled, I appreciate them more. My breakdown of their discography that no one asked for is below:

CHESHIRE CAT - borderline un-listenable except for a few songs (Carousel, M&M's). You can squint and see some of their talent breaking through but the whole thing can be a slog to listen to and the "funny" songs are grating.
DUDE RANCH - Solid skate-punk album but definitely runs out of steam towards the end since they don't vary the pace enough. Makes you realize what a benefit getting Travis Barker in the band was as he quietly pushed them to add more dynamics to their sound.
ENEMA OF THE STATE - Still a classic and definitely benefited of hitting at the right time when frat-like humor was big while also serving as a fun alternative to the nu metal bands. Strange that Blink didn't play the infamous Woodstock 99.
TAKE OF YOUR PANTS AND JACKET - Big-budget follow-up that, at first glance, appears to double-down on Enema but there are moments that showcase them wanting to go in different directions such as Story Of A Lonely Guy.
BLINK 182 - Still my favorite as it showcases the band dipping into their influences BEYOND punk.
NEIGHBOURHOODS - Definitely a ton of push/pull on this record. This stands as perhaps their most interesting album as everyone wanted their happy-go-lucky Blink back but the had been through a ton of emotional turmoil and it shows.
CALIFORNIA - I originally thought this was a bit too much of a course-correction but there are still some jams on here. The "silly" songs are a bit more grating since this is coming from dude's in their 40's.
NINE - A bit of a desperation in the sound trying to stay relevant but this one actually grew on me.

Also, "Man Overboard" is a fucking killer song and it's unfortunate it's buried on a dumb live album.

Man Overboard is the most Blink sounding Blink song in all the right ways. Features both vocalists, and I’m glad they gave it the single treatment (it is too bad it wasn’t on EOTS.

    Boooo!! Lol

    Those would be?

Lol yeah. Chorus is a bit plain, but i love the intro (i think it's this one) and the verses. Probably helps as I'm someone who has often wanted to run away,

"Ill be fine without you!" Lol

I appreciate the overview (as someone who does this too). But, folks, how can you not loooove Cheshire Cat?! Am i alone on this one too? Some solid Mark moments on here as well as Tom (Tom being more of a goofball). And then they are both unhinged for Depends and Just About Done lmao

Untitled is the best and probably still my favorite, but CC is a close second, if not tied for my most favorite

Dude Ranch is so far ahead of any other blink album. I'd also rate Enema and about 2/3 of TOYPAJ really highly, but Dude Ranch is a borderline masterpiece as far as pop punk goes. Every non joke song is great, and the best 4 or 5 are all contenders for #1 best blink song.

Would have been a decent deluxe if they released it with this and (a finished) Life's So Boring.

I like Cheshire Cat, it’s pretty Descendents/Bad Religion lite but Mark and Tom’s personalities still show up, but 2nd is p wild

Dude Ranch is a masterpiece? I mean..have you listened to TOYPAJ? That thing sounds like it was released this week! Totally timeless and every song is excellent. I love Untitled, but TOYPAJ is the true masterpiece in their catalogue.

    For me :

dude ranch - untitled is perfect. It defined the music I like today and made me the person I am. Everything lame about that period I love (the bad lyrics, guys in their 20 singing about high school).

Cheshire Cat: it’s great, not on the same level. It sounds like someone said about descendents lite. But it still has great songs.

neighbourhoods - DED: I think it’s really good. But a bit of a letdown for people expecting Untitled part 2. Tom didn’t really care but cared enough that there are great songs but with a producer or 100% effort could have been great. So sometimes frustrating.

California: the build up was so fun. We had no idea what to expect or what was gonna happen. And to see blink get a number one album was so fun and everyone seemed to be on board. I like the album and it’s a memorable part of there career.

deluxe: cookie cutter pop punk. I didn’t dig it at all.

nine: very good album. The promo for it sucked. Blame it on my youth was hard to get into. But overall like it a lot more than California.

Imagine if they had released Darkside as a lead single for Nine, were able to tour it as a standalone tour (not tacked onto EOTS anniversary), and actually had Mr Tsurt merch for Nine compared to Sandbag BS we were given.

Hard disagree, but I appreciate the power behind your opinion.

I've actually been waiting for that logo to be used on an album art since they teased it before Neighborhoods. I feel like the Smiley logo would've been cooler, but I still dig the album art. Maybe a better album title would've been nice.

Just my personal opinion obvi…but yeah that artwork bothers me so much haha…I still feel like Untitled have absolutely powerful artwork that just sits with music….I remember absolutely loving everything about that era back then

Yes, there's a reason the Untitled album is my favorite album of all time and it's not just because of the songs. Everything that encompasses that era is just peak blink in my opinion. Such a well rounded album era.

    Happy Holidays
    Story of a Lonely Guy
    Give Me One Good Reason
    Shut Up

^all suck, and Online Songs and First Date are both fine but not great. Dude Ranch has the joke songs as throwaways, but the rest is super consistent and the highs are ridiculous: Apple Shampoo, Untitled, Lemmings, I'm Sorry, Pathetic...for me Enema is a reasonable argument for best in that it's good beginning to end, but TOYPAJ is pretty up and down for me.
