  1. Yeah, it's pretty easily my least favorite of the big slasher series, but the first three (maybe even four) are fun and weird.

It's funny, my Fear Street ranking would be the opposite (1>3>2) but I also really enjoyed each film for what it was! 1666 did not disappoint. Love that they use the same actors, kept the queer theme, and brought it full circle. I wouldn't think about some of the logistics too hard, but it was just so fun and refreshing for a new horror franchise that manages to pay homage to the classics while forging its own path. Again, felt like great gateway horror for younger audiences.

I think my ranking goes in order 1-2-3, but I really enjoyed them all. I think there's something to be said when I already want to rewatch. It felt like a good blend of Stranger Things, Scream, and Scary Stories.

They succeeded in being more than just pastiche, while also not being so overly ambitious that they completely missed the mark.

I'm hoping there's a cool physical release before Halloween.

Kind of wish it was someone other than David Gordon Green directing.

I’ll never get over how strange of a career Adrien Brody has had.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

The Exorcist news is really cool, DGG is a good choice

also Dream Warriors is a classic

Crossed another one off my Cronenberg list tonight with The Brood. Still need to see Shivers, Crash, The Dead Zone, and then maybe eXistenZ? Not sure which others of his more recent stuff is worth checking out.

  13. God I love the Brood. His post eXistenZ career is a bit of a blind spot for me as well, but Shivers and Crash are excellent. Also recommend his son's most recent film, Possessor.

I'm a big Naked Lunch fan and highly recommend it. Cosmopolis is really interesting. All the viggo movies are also really good but very much not like what you think of when you think cronenberg, Eastern Promises is amazing though.

Possessor was badass and one of my favorites from last year. Have you seen Anti-Viral? I have not but want to.

I’ll add Naked Lunch and Cosmopolis as well. I’ve only seen A History of Violence (much too young to truly appreciate it i’m sure cause i remember strongly disliking it).

Have fun with Crash it's uh... A piece of work!

I've only seen the unrated version so idk if the normal is any different but it was like nearly all back to back very awkward and explicit sex scenes haha

I actually finally picked up Crash this weekend so I can finally cross that one off my Cronenberg list soon!

Never seen Crash but I remember watching the red band trailer for it on The Long Kiss Goodnight VHS when I was 10 and it making me feel very weird.

  20. I have not, but it's on my list! Echoing the Naked Lunch love. Also Crash may be a masterpiece. Wild execution of an insane, deliberately uncomfortable premise.
