the reports were that wwe was trying to become exclusive partners with New Japan so Bryan could wrestle there, but they fell through. Its certainly possible Bryan decided the money with WWE just wasn't worth it. Does stink that it probably won't be a surprise tho

I think that DB wouldnt get creative control and fewer dates with WWE; sounds like AEW gave him that. And its a heck of a lot easier to imagine the NJPW/AEW crossovers since we're actively seeing them, versus whatever WWE/NJPW looks like.
