La Liga casually having a whip round for Messi and seeing if they can find the money down the back of the sofa.

 

“Elite” clubs… Sevilla, Valencia, Atleti, Athletic, and Madrid? Yeah. Not buying that one.

 

How much on average do you think attendances go up when Messi comes to town? We all know it happens but to what extent? That's just a small example of why he's so important to the Spanish game and why I don't think it's too farfetched to think "elite" Spanish clubs want to help Barca out.

 

Barcelona away matches consistently are sold out at much higher ticket prices, so this is probably extremely true.

I know Messi sold out a 80k+ stadium in the US to only play ~15 minutes and got a lot of people mad, haha.

 

Jean-Philippe Gbamin made him comeback in a friendly v Accrington Stanley today after two serious knee injuries in a row. He got a fine assist for the third goal in a 3-0 win. Like a new signing...

 

I was sure he was a myth.

CONMEBOL gave the tournament best player to both Messi and Neymar today, despite Messi being statistically better in every category. I think that sums up CONMEBOL pretty well, haha.

 

Hoping for an Argentina win tonight, just because Emi Martinez was once on loan at Wednesday. It would be an extraordinary achievement for him considering he was still being loaned out to championship clubs in the 19-20 season.

Got to say though, my favourite moment of his was letting in two goals in stoppage time vs Wednesday when he was on loan at Rotherham.

don't think this has been posted here yet, but Paul Mariner (former Plymouth Argyle, Ipswich Town, Arsenal, and England striker) passed away today. He worked in the USA as a coach in the MLS and a pundit for ESPN, wonderful guy.
