I think, if I'm following correctly, the point of the Sacred Timeline is that Heimdall dies in every timeline. So therefore, it doesn't matter what timeline Loki and Sylvie are in, because Heimdall will always be dead.

So, after I posted this, I couldn't stop thinking about it, and I've slowly come to the conclusion that this doesn't make any sense after all.

Firstly, hi, yes, I'm new, although not really because I actually posted here under a different name way way back when this was AP and I've been lurking ever since, up until now.

With that out of the way, what I started thinking is this: Loki is under the impression that since there is a Sacred Timeline, that nothing he did was his decision. I was operating under the same logic when I posted that Heimdall will always be dead.

But then if everything is preordained from the get-go, then why do variants exist?

At first I thought, okay, it just means there's some things like genetics that the TVA can't control, hence how both a male and a female Loki are possible at the same time. Clearly the TVA can only shape events. But why does this anomaly exist to begin with?

If a Sacred Timeline exists where everything truly is preordained, then it should hypothetically be impossible for two different iterations of the same person to exist, because that would suggest there is more than one series of events to make that difference possible.

If the TVA has truly been pruning timelines since the beginning of time, then Sylvie should not be able to exist, especially a Sylvie that claims to have never known her mother and taught herself enchantment magic. If anything she'd just have the same backstory as Loki, because that's what's supposed to happen.

    Am I losing it?

My theory is that Kang is one of the Timekeepers and he setup the TVA to monitor the “Sacred Timeline” which is just the one he wins in. There’s nothing special about it outside it’s the one he wants to happen so all this talk of pruning and multiverses is just hogwash to hide his conquest of time.

  4. Wow ... loved this episode. Posted my thoughts on YouTube as usual. (Again if anyone minds me posting videos here just let me know - not trying to be a spammer)

Some stuff I expected from this but a bunch I didn't. I hope everyone else enjoys this one as much as I did.

Based on how these Marvel shows go, I fully believe the head of the “Timekeepers” is just the worst version of Loki.

  6. I'm like half between that and half between it linking back to Kang - maybe it's both? I honestly wouldn't be too disappointed if it is just the worst Loki because it would help give this show some sense of being a self-contained story that just raises the idea of the multiverse rather than directly tying into something like Dr. Strange 2. Although granted, at this point everything Marvel makes/will make will just be some type of set up for the next movie or show and so on and so on and this show itself is a sequel of essentially two different movies.

In any event, I enjoy the post-episode theorizing and build up to the next one. I don't think the Marvel shows are the best things ever, but I'm really glad they went with a week to week release rather than a season dump. It has been fun bs-ing with folks online about them.

The only reason I think worst version of Loki is because it brings “can Loki be good?” full circle, especially if our Loki defeats him.

through two shows now, the “twists” have both been occam’s razor and all the crockpot theories, which to be fair are better than what the show pulls off, are almost always proven wrong. i’ll eat my shoe if it’s kang.

Yup, I feel like they try to make these shows (so far) self-contained for the most part and aren’t bringing in major villains. They’re going to save those for movies (where they can waste them on the big screen instead!)

  10. That's a really good point honestly. I still have a hard time reconciling with the fact that our Loki here is 2012 Loki who straight up murdered Coulson like 3 days ago.

And yeah, it's probably not Kang because I have a feeling that Disney/Marvel isn't going to want to give us the "good stuff" with these shows - which is why we didn't get more of a hint into the Fantastic Four when WandaVision had the aerospace engineer reference for someone who just never showed up. Can't blame them though because people (like me haha) are gonna eat up all those clues and spend way too much time thinking of theories.

Same haha. These shows being week to week are awesome, I missed being able to discuss shows like this. Brings me back to LOST.

I knew the TVA were massive liars and the “timekeepers” being nothing but fakes.

  14. It’s still so weird to me that Disney owns the Simpsons. I probably shouldn’t say anything negative - they’ll probably own me soon enough.

Since Feige said these shows will be tying into the movies, I don't think it's farfetched to think a major villain would show up in some capacity, but who knows.

    Otherwise, great episode.

The least interesting Avenger, Pugh and Steinfeld gonna have to save that show.

The shows tying into the movies just means that these series are actually canon to the MCU, unlike everything that came before. It doesn't necessarily mean that a major movie villain will be showing up in the shows, though.
