Haynes doing Bergman???

I lost my favorite local theater today. I’m not sure where else I’ll be able to see an arthouse drama at 11:15 AM on a Wednesday and listen to old ladies ask questions about what’s happening while loudly eating candy they brought from home.

Nothing will beat me seeing Sorry to Bother You in a crowd of exclusively retired old rich white people at 10 in the morning. AMC could never curate such an incredible experience. Protect local theaters.

 

Come and See, Thelma and Louise, and Cinema Paradiso were the biggest omissions for me.

 

Please watch Come and See before we get to that year in the best of threads. Idk if it'll make your list but it definitely deserves a watch.

 

I’m a boomer and don’t know how to sort out the ones I’ve already seen

 

Took me a minute to figure it out too.

When viewing that list, click the Filters button at the top right. Then change “Sort by” to “Film Popularity” and pick “All Time.” Then scroll down to the “You” section and where it says “Watched”, select “Not Watched.”

 

A few of the top 20 I haven’t seen are ones that are on my watchlist, like Goodfellas, Inglorious Basterds, and Oldboy. But no, I’m never going to watch Avatar.

 

Gasps? Walk outs?

 

I'd rather watch Avatar again than Oldboy.

 

A couple walk outs but mostly just old white people walking out at the end in silence looking utterly defeated.

 

All the cops saying to stay for all credits must never pee

 

Not only should there not be end credits scenes, we need to bring back intermissions in movies. One every hour.

 

Yeah I always need a bathroom break before it’s over

 

I’ve said it before but the idea of intermissions happening now, where tons of people are trickling in late after the movie has resumed and having to find their seats again with new snacks to open and text messages to finish sending, sounds like a true nightmare

 

Imagining dorks taking a date to the movies and sitting silently through the end credits as a sign of respect for the Best Boy

 

every hour lol!
