I guess the thinking is Trippier has played/could play LB if he really needed to as well? and I think Saka has played LWB, right? I feel like if the squad is only 23 then Southgate definitely doesn't bring 4 RBs like this but since we have an extra 3 spots, I don't think it's the single most outrageous thing he could have done, and I'm willing to trust him for now at least.

When we crash out of groups in last place then I'll look a numpty for having faith in him, but for me Southgate still got us to the semis in the World Cup (although I appreciate that a lot of people may feel we got there in spite of him as opposed to because of him, but hey, I'm occasionally an optimist), so I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt until he fucks up a tournament badly enough for me to sour on him.

  2. Messi reportedly renewing
    Emerson returning
Aguero, Wijnaldum, Depay, Donnarumma on free contracts
Eric Garcia coming back from City

Barca having a very good window so far. If they can raise some money to buy a legit CB then they’ll be in great shape.

Trippier played LB several times this season and was pretty good, plus Saka offers cover there too. So not as thin as you think.

There was never a chance Barnsley would have paid $20 million for Dike. Even if they’d have gone up it would have seemed unlikely of them. Unlikely anyone else will either. He was a no show for the play off games vs Swansea.

Confirmation that Poch wants to quit PSG. You have to laugh at Perez if this is true. If only he waited a few hours.

I doubt that news above is true if Poch is available for Spurs. He won't want another sporting director around like Leonardo.

  10. The rumor I've seen is that Paratici and Conte want to work together again and we are interested in both. That seems to be plan B, with Poch being plan A. But we're gonna fuck around long enough and end up with plan C and I'm scared to know what that is.

Why do Spurs fans want Poch back? Honestly. He was handed Ligue 1 on a platter and lost it.

Another question is why would Poch want to come back to a place he'd been fired from.

    hmmm

Why would he want Pochettino more than Ancelotti?

  14. I'd say Spurs fans are actually pretty split on the idea of him returning. A good amount want Conte instead.

I'm honestly happy with either even though Poch is admittedly a weird situation. Majority of the fans don't think Poch should've ever been sacked and that it wasn't his fault the team began to spiral. It all goes back to Poch publicly saying we needed to go through a rebuild. But we then reached a CL final and Levy's eyes got big. He clearly disagreed with Poch on this notion and the two were growing frustrated with each other. Levy went and hired the win now manager and we continued to spiral, and kinda proved Poch right in his assessment of the squad.

With that said, Poch wasn't completely free of fault in the whole ordeal. His last few months were nothing but him constantly moaning and groaning to the press about how he has no control over what happens with the team and that he is "just the coach, not the manager". While I understand where his frustrations were coming from, and now the reasons for those frustrations have been somewhat justified, his attitude did not help the situation at all.

Despite the sour taste that was left in those last few months, Poch and Levy both immediately said that Poch would return one day. I just don't think anyone expected it to happen this soon. Levy put out that letter stating he's made decisions that have taken the club away from what they've worked so hard to be and what they want to represent on and off the pitch etc. I think Poch just feels safe to Levy. He knows that Poch is a good manager, loved by the fans, loved by the players. It's the "easy way" to make everyone happy again. But it absolutely won't work if Levy doesn't give Poch more control over the squad.

Yeah but he'll sack anyone for one slightly duff season. Ancelotti's still the guy who's won three Champions Leagues.

Foden's ended up on the PFA player of the year award shortlist despite only starting in half of City's games. The hype is real!

  22. “If Poch is going to return to Spurs, he has to make a public statement about PSG”

Is that not weird? When has a manager ever had to do that? People switch clubs often and I don’t recall the manager ever being put in that situation. Shitty if true.

It should also be noted that Sterling was at his best when playing opposite Sané. So it’s not just an Arteta thing. But yes Sterling should have been left out both on recent form in league and his shaky history for the national team.
