Not blown away but this but I dig it enough. Maybe it’ll grow with repeat listens

Loving this album more than I did their previous, definitely my favorite 2021 release so far! I really appreciate Pat taking cues from the audience reactions at their live shows and gearing this album more for the live setting, I can't wait to sing these songs back at them.

Did Alex Henery leave Basement? I've now read 2 interviews that say he has.

Release My Mind, My Garden Grows

In the Fader interview he said "I had that in the previous band I'm in" when talking about chemistry, which is a odd way of phrasing it if he is still in Basement or if they're still a band. Maybe they're on hiatus again? Would make sense with covid. Looks like they're no longer active on fueled by ramen too. But I don't really wanna assume too much without anything directly from the band/members.

Got my UK copy and my RFC copy today. I thought the UK copy was gonna have an alternate cover but its just a 12x12 print. Probably wouldn't have ordered but its whatever I'll just frame it or something. E2bqUvDVEAU4bxe.jpg

If I love this will I also love Have Heart and Basement's records? I've never really listened to either outside a few songs here and there.

You’d like Basement but not sure about Have Heart lol

Basement def would be up your alley. I actually think Have Heart would be too if you are big on Pat’s vocal style and lyrics. I don’t think what he is doing in Have Heart is that far off Fiddlehead. Just a little more aggressive. Musically, Have Heart is more upbeat and aggressive, but I don’t see why it wouldn’t work. It’s not like Fiddlehead is writing a bunch slow and meandering songs.

I haven't loved a record like this since Melee. Can't get enough of it, and can't wait for my vinyl to be delivered.

All Basement records are great. The second one in particular.

Also, I finally checked these out and it rules.

yeah this doesn’t sound like smashing pumpkins at all lol but it’s very good. scratching a big time post-hardcore itch for me.

I’m sorry but “loverman, love her, man” reminds me of 21 jump street when he does slam poetry and says “Julia Roberts, Julia Rob hurts.”

are we still lucky to be here? Prestigious

To give the high level answer based on what I know about your taste:

Basement, yes. Not a big expert in their discography, but there's enough similarities there to merit a deep dive based on what I remember.

Have Heart, probably not. If you like Pat's vocals then there's a possibility, but his delivery is a lot more abrasive. His lyrics are comparably good, but there's a strong difference between Fiddlehead and a straight edge hardcore band who put out their best record 15 years ago at this point. Things We Carry is a top 20 album of all time for me and is as short as this record so it's not a big time commitment. So go for it!

yeah i mean it's apples to oranges. indie-flavored post-hardcore vs. pretty much the epitome of Boston straight edge hxc

I've had a couple beers tonight so it was a must to profess my love for Have Heart very sincerely.
