Demi Lovato Comes Out As Non-Binary

Unpopular to say this, but man, I would hate being a celebrity. Seems nauseating to chase every social trend to get your name in a headline/stay relevant in modern pop culture.

 

OR, it's exhausting to be a celebrity because all you want is a sense of normalcy and peace sometime but everyone insists on having very loud viewpoints on shit that affects their life 0%.

Good for Demi. Hope they're able to find some peace after the hellish past few years.

As a Demi fan and not really touching on this particular statement. This girl does just seem always desperate to talk and say her opinion all the time to get in the media. Two weeks ago she was in some battle with a Fro-Yo company or something making a big deal about something.

 

They can still suck as a person, and be not ridiculed for their gender identity. That's some bullshit.

 

You clearly are touching on this statement by refusing to use their proper pronouns.

Every excuse in the book is posted to absolve cishet white warped tour alumni on this site but the 1st comment on this article is that one, good god, pound sand kick rocks etc.

 

Actually wasn't, I've always just called Demi her so it was out of habit. Didn't even think or realize until you decided to internet police me. Was simply stating this person seems to cry out for attention a lot. I am a fan of Demi, just an observation. Watch this persons documentaries, they don't seem to be the kindest of person and crave attention probably subconsciously.

Wish this person happiness and hope to catch a concert, wish it had been before the most recent two albums as I don't really care for either past release and would have rather seen a tour off of Demi or Confident or even Unbroken

Wasn't really that serious. The general population will still refer to them as "her" not because they don't want to acknowledge or dont know the change but habit. This person has been in the spotlight for over a decade and on Disney. It's not even ignorant as just simply habit.

 

Just because the general population will do it out of "habit" doesn't mean you get a pass when you do it in the comment section of an article that is literally about them coming out as non-binary. At that point, it's willful ignorance at best.

Anyway, happy for them. It's a shame there's been this much baggage surrounding Demi that makes people disrespect what should be a celebratory moment. It's not only one for Demi, but for all the non-binary people out there that may feel validated having someone with a platform of this size make such a statement.

I know people have their grips about Demi, I have my own and they're all valid feelings, but refusing to call them by their pronouns because of these grips is like textbook -phobic behavior. I'd even say it's dehumanizing. Please don't stoop that low. It takes no effort to do the right thing here.

And of course, if it's an honest mistake then simply apologize and own up to it, correct your posts, and then make sure to not do it again. There's no need to get defensive... it's not about you.
