Lumping Alligator in with “old stuff I don’t listen to” honestly hurts my feelings.

 

It's not like it has the most untouchable album ending run in the history of indie rock or anything

 

I’ve been returning to IAETF and TWFM more of late. The themes of the albums mesh with where my head is right now.

Echoing the sentiment that High Violet has a ton of really great the national songs but I almost never listen to it beginning to end for some reason

 

Happy two years to this album, by the way.

Yea, apologies to alligator , it’s definitely cut above the first two.

 

Got my Cherry Tree Vol. 3 today. Such a good performance. Listening to it high tonight, slaps. Defending Turtleneck to other National fans has cost me everything.

 

USPS seems to have lost My cherry tree 3 so that’s fun

 

Listening again for the first time in maybe a year and this is my favorite record of theirs easily and I love all their other records.

 

It's definitely one that I somewhat connected to when it was released but REALLY connect to right now.

 

Where should I start with this band???

 

Alligator, Boxer, High Violet or Sleep Well Beast imo

Boxer is a great place to start.

 

Boxer and High Violet got me into this band, either album is a lovely starting point

 

Okay, diving into Boxer!

 

High Violet is prob my least fave of their post Alligator albums but it’s their most immediate, punchy, high-contrast album and a good one to “hook” people who might not have the time/motivation to let all their other records sink into their ears and work their magic.

My alternate advice is to start with Alligator and work your way up chronologically from there. Catch up with their first two albums last.
