Well then you won't mind missing the 1/4 sized Alexandria that he stumbles into at the end of the episode.

Glad to see that stopping after season one was a good choice (?)

Well we're in Season 2b right now, and judging from the preview, some stuff actually happens. There is no "bad guy" yet, if there even will be.

  4. I really liked a lot about how this show started, but by the middle of Season 1 I could tell it was going to go downhill quickly.

I made it 3 episodes into Season 2, then stopped watching, then picked back up during the marathon yesterday afternoon but got distracted by halfway through episode 4. I might go back and catch up, I might just say "oh well". Its a shame, I was so pumped for the premise of this show.

The problem is that it just isn't interesting. The characters are all, with the exception of a couple, flat, and the plot is just meandering at best. With TWD, at least there was a goal of getting to the CDC, then saying fuck it and surviving.

The problem with FTWD is that no one is even questioning the zombies running around. They're acting like it's been going on for a long time and they're past any sort of cure or reason.

Oh, regarding last night's episode; did we really need to be shown who that chick in the series premier was? The zombie that Nick killed in the opening I mean.

Oh, and there was a scene last night that was literally this:

  8. Before the show first started, I was hoping for the initial outbreak and degradation of society to slowly take place over a few seasons. The fact that we went from normal to apocalypse in one season just felt cheap.

This show could've been great had they gone the slow-to-develop route with a wider base of characters throughout the LA-area all having different experiences with the timing, severity, and logistics of the initial outbreak. That would've given them more main characters (or at least people we have an attachment to) to kill off, which is totally necessary in a show like this.

Instead, by the end of Season 1, FTWD had used up its main plot difference from TWD, and now we are left with two shows about two similar groups on opposite sides of the country experiencing the same circumstances. And to top it off, they're going to continue to step on each others toes and get in each others way regarding plot points and original ideas, ultimately cheapening both products.

IMO, FTWD should've been a 6-10 episode miniseries that ended with the fall of LA.

The militarized residential area in the first season was one of the best things ever done in FTWD or TWD. It would have been nice to see that stretched out where the infantry slowly started to worry about themselves instead of just following orders to protect these random people. Violence would ensue, mutiny would take place; but instead they just leave.

All of the above criticism's I agree with. Overall, I just really expected them to capitalize on opportunities they didn't have in TWD. Kill off main character's people think would last like in the other show, have grittier characters and a bit more chaos like the first season kinda had. Maybe even just show people getting bitten again. I think the last time we saw someone get actually pinned down and eaten was what..Noah?

The first half of the second season was just like watching a boat float in the ocean during a storm (no pun intended). It was like I stayed to watch it meander and move a bit here and there, hoping for a huge wave to come smash into it. Instead, the sun came out and I just carried on with my day.

Ooo, I like this idea. If AMC wanted to move into "HBO territory", they could have done some sort of FTWD mini-series per year, where we concentrate on a different group of survives (or people that die, honestly) at different times of the outbreak/years since. Would have been a cool idea to expand on the world of The Walking Dead without getting stale too fast.

That being said, I got some enjoyment out of the episode last night.

This is EXACTLY my problem with the show. This show was initially marketed to us as a prequel and within the first 3 episodes we were in a full blown apocalypse. I also found it odd how normal everyone in this show was acting at the start of the apocalypse and just kind of went with the flow.

Lol fuck I forgot the walking dead sucks. I fall for it everytime dammit. It feels like I get excited to watch this show just to see how bad it is sometimes. Bizarre.

I thought it was kinda bizarre seeing Jesse McCartney play a villain earlier this season. Dude sure has put on weight since the days of 'Beautiful Soul'

That return episode this week wasn't very strong. Hopefully it gets better next week

I guess zombies falling off balconies was kind of cool... But physically would they even be able to walk after breaking their bodies?

These two episodes have been fairly good; I like how they've focused on Nick mostly

    A couple of quick things.

So Nick is walking around with this girl who apparently speaks no English, but once they leave the compound she speaks English? What was the point of pretending that she couldn't during all of the other interactions they've had? Oh that's right, it helped create the "how convenient" moment while visiting the makeshift grocery store. Also, why do we need to have Nick and Oxy mentioned in the same sentence every few episodes? We get it, he's an all knowing street pharmacist that can identify a pill by sheer site and can determine a patient's medication regiment judging solely by a 30 second look at them. I swear this dude is going to be the Daryl of this series.

We get a tease of Strand's backstory, but of course no pay off.

How irresponsible was it for Strand and Madison to get wasted while Alicia and Ophelia were upstairs? It didn't seem very realistic is all I'm saying. The show ends with them surrounded in the bar, but we know that they both survive due to the season preview after episode 1, so the tension is nonexistent.

What was the deal with the zombies in the hotel rooms? I get that they probably died being held up with hopes of rescue when shit hit the fan, but what made them fall out of their balconies? Was it the presence of living people that made them move around and want to get out? Probably, but who knows, highlight of the night for sure.

One more episode and then I'm done, unless some serious shit actually goes down. Seeing Travis walking alone in next week's preview gives me a little bit of hope.

My understanding was that they were falling of the balconies because they were drawn to the sound of the piano

Really? I'd think the sound of the ocean and birds would be better heard from that height.

I didn't say it made sense lol.

The only reason I made the connection, was because I was watching the show with the captions on, and during the scene where they were all falling it said "piano playing in background"

Also, I think falling from that height even on grass would destroy the brain, haha.

I've been to this hotel and the pier that's shown. There is a cool little shopping center and a big parking garage on the opposite side of where we see them pulling up to the front entrance of the place; they filmed on top of the parking garage by the way.

Just the fact that I haven't seen a promo photo of Nick NOT covered in blood in like a year makes me content with my decision to stop watching this show lol.

Like the last time Daryl has been shown clean? Dude has been living in a fucking HOUSE up until recently yet decides to not take a shower so he can uphold his image.

I mean, there's a lot of reasons to stop watching this show, but I don't think this is one of them. It really fits with the plot imo since Nick has been submerging with the undead so much

But the rationalization for Nick doing what he's doing makes absofuckinglutely no sense.

All they're doing is ripping off what Rick and company did in the season 1 episode titled Guts. The only bad thing is that Nick is running around in plain blood, in the desert, in the heat, yet the blood is still wet and red?

Someone doesn't know how blood turns black and dries.
