Completely agree. It’s my favorite blink era. Tom’s guitar playing is so good on that album, probably his best work.

  2. And I don’t think we’ve ever heard a single TOYPAJ demo, right?

  3. Here's that dude's description of the unreleased song from the Dude Ranch demo:

00:00 A classic Tom style slow riff starts the song
00:15 Drums and bass are added
00:40 Song speeds up, just drums and bass
00:47 Guitar kicks in with a tasty Tom style riff
00:56 Tom sings the first verse
01:12 Song switches to half time as Tom sings the first chorus
01:20 Song switches back to full speed as Tom sings the second half of the chorus
01:27 Back to the tasty Tom riff from the intro
01:35 Tom sings the second verse
01:51 Tom sings the second chorus
02:07 Song slows back down and it's just bass and drums
02:16 Mark sings a one-line hook repeating with a single guitar added
02:25 Tom sings the first line of the first verse on top of Mark's repetitive hook (my favorite part)
02:33 Overlapping vocals continue but speed increases
02:42 Tom sings the chorus a third time, and the tasty Tom riff comes in over the second half
    03:00 End of song

"The untitled one I just described is really a great track. Some parts probably were used in other songs, but I have never really felt a for sure "yeah that's from that untitled track" feeling, which is what Mark makes it seem like. I could be totally wrong on that. Parts feel like some other tracks, but that's true of that era of Blink in general. Most of Tom's little licks sounds similar or have a similar picking style, at least.

It's hard to compare the track against the rest as I heard the others so many more times with such better production. Nonetheless, I think the track is great. The song as a whole probably isn't that special, but it's all a build-up to the overlapping Mark & Tom vocals. To me, that's one of the things that made Blink so special. Pathetic is similar in the part where Mark rings out "This is where I belonggggggg...." and Tom sings "I think I'm different..." on top. For me, the unreleased track would at least be middle of the pack. Everyone's got their own tastes, though."

Correct no demos have ever been released of anything from TOYPAJ or Untitled no matter what videos on Youtube claim.

They would probably have to jump through a million hoops to get this done, but it would be great if one day they did an "archive" sort of release where they threw in every preproduction demo, b-side, and outtake they could get their hands on. Even a Skiba-era release like that would be great considering how many songs we know they've recorded but didn't release.

  6. I met +44 at an in-store signing on June 25, 2007 before their show here in Salt Lake City. They signed the back of a Famous Stars and Straps sticker for me.

demos. the blinkumentary must be awkward and bad if the band didn't even want to release it.

I’d love to hear any unreleased songs pre or around the California and Nine era.

  12. It would be cool to hear the songs they initially did with Tim Armstrong that sounded “too much like oldschool Blink and Alkaline Trio” since that sounds actually perfect? Haha

I love how huge of an influence Travis Barker has on rap right now. He's carrying on Blink's legacy in an incredible way.

Damn man! I was probably just getting into them then and heavily on AIM... I don't recall hearing about this though, but I was also stubborn and Tom obsessed.
I heard Mark did Google Chats too. That's just insane! Ugh! Always bad timing...although Discord was pretty great until he started ignoring me. jk jk idk. I also haven't been on much in past few months. Speaking of...i recall seeing a pic of the bass made for Mark with Mark and Allan. I didn't realize Daveed and he worked together on it and never saw this video. Cool tho!

Let the record show, if this does happen, I predicted it. Lol I didn't exactly, but I have written out an entire scenario of this developing through 2021 with all of these bands coming together. I mean, haven't worked everything out (hell! Ill never KNOW everything tha5 needs to be worked out), but I've definitely created this fantasy in my mind for either end of 2021 or 2022. I started crafting it last year, so I expected Covid restrictions to be lifted sooner...but tbh, I'm not really that far off! By April of this year is when I had them announcing "something". And it was to be a springboard for this collaborative show in 2023.

And yes, Alk3, Simple Creatures, All Time Low and TheUsed were all drafted in along with the other side projects mentioned. What we can achieve in Quarantine, I tell ya! Lol
