Fall Out Boy’s Take This To Your Grave has entered the Billboard 200 at number 140. From what I can tell, this is the first time the record has been on this chart.

Any idea why? Not a knock on the album, but 18 years after release seems strange - is something propelling this?

All I can think of is there was that story about the making of the album artwork? No idea otherwise though.

Would this have anything to do with the recent vinyl repress from FBR?

I know this is likely a contrarian view around these parts but this album was definitely of it's time and doesn't necessarily stand up today. The hooks are still great but the violent revenge fantasies against a cheating ex just....don't connect with me as I'm in my late 30's now.

yeah it’s probably this + billboard’s new rule of album sales counting once the record is shipped

The music and melodies of TTYG absolutely hold up, I can look past some of the lyrics.

yeah agreed. i'm gonna boldly state that it's the worst fall out boy album.

    Give what you can.

Yeah in the pop-punk world of the early 00's, revenge murder lyrics over being taken out of someone's Myspace top 8 or whatever were about as trendy as painted on jeans and youth large t-shirts. I'm glad a lot of those bands have grown up and expressed regret over that shit (the lyrics, not the fashion), but it can definitely still be tough to go back and enjoy those records as an adult.

It’s one of those strange “quiet selling” albums that never gained enough traction (despite being certified gold) in a single week...until now pretty sure the is was due to the vinyl repress week that sold out.

Was looking up the lyrics and the only song that could be considered to have a “violent revenge fantasy” would be the first song. Every other song seems to be free of that unless I missed something.

Definitely think the lyrics of the first song are a little much, but I still enjoy this record for what it is. It's a nostalgic time capsule for me and I still listen to it occasionally just for that.

The a cappella portion of "Chicago" is pretty viscous.

Such a good album. Lyrics of tell that mick probably are probably pretty bad revenge narrative wise but man at the time this album came out they resonated so much. Not that I wanted anyone to actually choke and die but man....so good.
