They've been recommended to me, and I'm pretty sure I've listened to them, but don't know how much of a chance I gave them before they were forgotten. Will dig back in and give them another shot.

I hate the Is Dead artwork. Reminds me of some Metro Station type 2008 band

Yes...but a thing isn't beautiful because it lasts

You see that stuff on their fb lately? They brought Stephen Keech from Haste the Day on board a month or two ago as a new guitarist with intent to record more, then announced that As Cities Burn is now absolutely dead with zero possibility for revival a few weeks back. The whole sequence of posts was odd. Then again, Aaron Lunsford runs the page, so maybe it wasn't.

Oh yeah. I've kept up. That's why I pretend they didn't "come back" at all.

I kinda wish I didn't know as much about Aaron as I do. It kind of painted the whole band in a bad light and has diminished my desire to listen to their music.

grateful all the fucking time Supporter

Haste the Day was one of my favorite bands in high school, and I was also super into As Cities Burn at one point, so them almost recording with him and then not doing it is such a major bummer, lol.

Official prediction... They release an album full of 1996/Smiths-sounding songs and it's called "I'm Sick of the Way You Always Criticize The Smiths... And Morrissey"

An album in the vain of 1996 is the dream, but I think they played with that sonic direction and abandoned it.

That tweet from Riley has pretty much dampened all of my hope for an album being released this year

Kevin announcing a date for his single did it for me. They're not gonna release something and take away from him.

    Maybe November/December though

    Newbie

I'm kind of holding out hope that they weave the release rollout strategies together -- they could definitely use the visibility of a new Brand New LP to heighten awareness of Kevin's album if they can build it out correctly.

I still think it's suspicious that they announced Kevin's album without a release date - that doesn't seem to make a ton of sense to me.

Labels put out major releases relatively near each other all the time. Just this fall, Hopeless is putting out a Taking Back Sunday album two weeks before Yellowcard's farewell record. They can do two things.

    True.

P!MT is still the exception to the rules as I've seem them play out.

  24. Benjamin Lee

    Trusted

I'd argue it's a little different when P!MT doesn't release a lot of albums, and it's music all kind of markets to the same demographic.

    And also what @Kevin360 said.

I mean, TBS and Yellowcard play to the same demographic for sure. I'm just saying that this is different than any other time when we thought "It's finally coming this year" in that the band has never been this clear about a new album actually being confirmed before. While in years past the rule of thumb for Brand New was "It's not coming until they say so," this time it's "It's not not coming until they say so."

They knew KD's album was coming this year when they announced theirs was too. Unless they say otherwise, I don't think we should discount it coming this year just yet.
