You could make all super league clubs start from 0 points today and United would still go down.

I've had to explain this to so many non-footy fans today and most of them keep coming back with, "So that's a bad thing? it seems like UEFA is the bad guy here keeping them from participating on their national level as is because they won't play in their playground." Which makes it hard to explain all the nuances, because I honestly hadn't looked at it that way yet... but it ignores so many other things to reduce it to UEFA is throwing a temper tantrum.

  9. I’ve had the same experience. But it’s understandable. Americans, even myself to an extent, don’t have the same connection or understanding of the domestic leagues in Europe.

Yeah it's weird, I was explaining to my boss today who only knows about football through her boyfriend and even she was shocked by this.

I think if you grow up on the NFL and things, it doesn't seem like quite such a big deal maybe?

'He sucked the culture out of the club' - the inside story of Jose Mourinho's downfall at Tottenham

"It did not take the Tottenham players to grow bored of Mourinho’s training sessions. They felt weighed down by the defensive focus, the hours spent working on how to defend throw-ins before facing Liverpool, and frustrated by the lack of attention to their own game. For years, Spurs teams of all levels had focused on building up from the back and passing the ball, but for Mourinho that was all forgotten.

“He has sucked the culture out of the club,” said one dressing-room source, “and destroyed what Spurs have stood for for years.”

Also mentions the players complained the training was too soft...the same players that complained Poch's training was too intense. Kane was apparently the only one that still would go to bat for Mou near the end.

overall, no surprises here. same Mou, different club.

It's definitely hard to describe to a lot of people that don't really know the sport/leagues and such.

As I think I have explained before - I have only gotten into world football in the last.... 4ish years. But the long-term repercussions of this greed-driven concept are just awful. It is a shame that the "average American" can't understand that, but then again, we are talking about "average Americans" here.

As a fan of the NFL team that the Glazers own and just won the Super Bowl, I feel at fault here.
