Only Love blew my mind and this is like 10x better than that record so yeah basically The Armed is the best band ever.

I want a tour lineup like The Armed, Rolo Tomassi, and Foxing or something ridiculous like that

Loving the new record. The only band that can go from Pop to Powerviolence and make it seem easy.

BAD SELECTION is quite possibly the best penultimate song of the year. Absolutely masterful placement there

Also - albums nuances are finally settling in, and I love this more and more

only part I’m struggling with is the first half of REAL FOLK BLUES, but I’m sure I’ll come around

Only listened through this once but I thought Bad Selection was the standout track. Wondered if I'd be alone in that. Glad to see it getting some props.
Not sure this band is really for me 100% but I respect it and they are very good at what they do.

After many listens I’d be shocked if it didn’t get sent to Rock radio at some point. Imo the catchiest thing they’ve ever done.

Idk I have a pretty damn good feeling about ALL FUTURES too, could be a pretty big hit

Do we know if any of these are going to be sent to radio?

I watched the hamburger clown's "review" of this so you don't have to. he basically just said it was overly compressed a bunch of times

A lot of it just sounds atonal to me - like a dozen things have been slung against the wall in the hope that a couple stick

I like the more melodic elements - but the harshness of the vocals and sporadic nature of the drumming are a big turn-off

I can appreciate why people will love them - but think they're just a little too 'out there' for my sensibilities

I get that because that's how I felt at first but I would urge you to keep giving it a try because it truly does reward repeated listens

I get this a lot and think this is why I prefer their last record. It feels a little more grounded IMO.

Bring me noise, powerviolence and atonal sounds everyday. But I get why it’s a hard sell.

It's definitely interesting! And I love their style overall, I'm going to explore some more of their stuff later on

ahhh gotcha! Thought you meant it more in the line of "I just don't get why the kids like it". The record is definitely made by seasoned veterans based on all available knowledge.

But I get exactly what you mean! I would normally say its not my speed as well, but the pop moments keep me coming back, and round out a lot of the powerviolence. And the synthwork is catchy once you ease into it, even on the more atonal tracks. As others said, definitely rewards more listens, but if its not what you like, can't see anyone arguing with that hah

yeah it's not for everyone but once I connected to one thing, the other pieces just kind of started falling into place for me

tbh the only song that I could take or leave is Masunaga Vapors. it's not bad but I just don't feel like it really dives into the kind of maximalism they're trying to achieve here

    Stay Lucky Supporter

I like this album and have a bunch of random thoughts about it:

"Real Folk Blues" has to be a cowboy bebop reference, right?

I like on "Big Shell" she pronounces island like "Is-land"

This album does sound pretty bad on my laptop speakers, ngl, but that should be expected

It's great for the exercise bike lol
