Damn, somehow didn't know you liked Fifteen so much. I've never been a big fan of that song but I appreciate it a lot more revisiting it now, like most of this album. Still probably wouldn't be in the top half of the album for me though, although I now think it's probably one of her more consistent efforts so that's not a big slight on the song.

Tell Me Why, The Way I Loved You and The Best Day are all way better than I ever gave them credit for.

I am such a sucker for nostalgia, so songs like "Fifteen" always work for me.

Fifteen and The Best Day are two tracks that mean more as we age. Especially in light of her growth as an artist for the first and Soon You’ll Get Better for the second.

"I didn't know who I was supposed to be" definitely hits different now.

That’s really her magic trick. Looking back at things only just barely in her rearview with such insight that they only seem truer and more profound the more distance you get.

  6. It was waterworks city over here for me during that whole section

The whole "Back then I swore I was gonna marry him someday but I realized some bigger dreams of mine" part is so good especially in light of all her achievements

Never Grow Up on speak now has similar vibes to both songs. "I just realized everything I have is someday gonna be gone" gets me every time

Did she ever write a song about Calvin or did she pay him complete dust? Idk why but the thought of her not even bothering to write a song about him when she wrote one of her best songs about like making eye contact with the owl city guy amuses me.

Isn't "I Forgot That You Existed" about Calvin Harris? It's an apt song for him, because I usually forget that he exists.

  11. There are a few songs I'd wager reference Harris but he doesn't seem to have gotten one song all to himself which makes me laugh a considerable amount.

All he deserves tbh. I forget about their relationship routinely. A tiktok told me that the "But when I walked up to the podium I think that I forgot to say your name" part was about leaving him out of her grammy acceptance speech?? But I was always too lazy to go back and check lol

Ha, I find it unlikely that something as aching as "Coney Island" is about him..

  14. as a song I'd say true, but that line could absolutely be

Quite a few songs on reputation are at least partly about Calvin. I Did Something Bad and This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things are equally about him than Kanye.

    Tiktok told me that

"Were you standing in the hallway with a big cake, happy birthday" = jake g moment I knew reference

"And when I got into the accident
The sight that flashed before me was your face" = Harry styles snowmobile accident

"But when I walked up to the podium, I think that I forgot to say your name" = forgetting to thank Calvin

But like I have no idea lol I don't even know if she forgot to thank him in a speech and even if she didn't include him in a speech it could've always been intentional. Ngl idk if I'd want to thank someone I wasn't like married or long-term partnered with for a landmark speech that would be played on my highlight wheel but I'm a bitch so who knows

She definitely thanked him in her 1989 speech. Because she called him Adam (his actual name) not Calvin. I had to look up who tf Adam was.

where would i be if i was my brain Prestigious

Calvin Harris/Adam probably has scraps of songs about him likely. She probably never fleshed them out after the whole KimYe thing and falling head over heels with Joe. So Reputation probably has the most “vault” songs from Taylor’s pop star albums.
