Currently at the airport waiting on my connecting flight to Cleveland. Never planned on going there but I travel all over to see my favorite band and they're ending their tour with two nights at the Grog Shop and I couldn't miss it.

In honor (kind of) of the Rio Olympics, here's Sao Paulo. In case anyone was wondering, it looks incredible.

Brazil would be cool! I thought about going there 4 years ago, but I ended up settling on Ecuador because getting a tourist visa is way too much of an expensive hassle.

Forgot to post about my trip to Berlin, but it was amazing. My favorite city in the world! I also went to Potsdam, Dresden, Oranienberg (for Sachsenhausen), and a day trip to the Baltic Sea.

I lived in South Korea for two years. It's really affordable to travel since it's in the middle of a lot of places. I got to visit Taiwan, Japan (twice), and China. I went to Montréal for the first time last month, and I'm hoping to get to Toronto by the end of autumn, but we'll see. I also visited Cuba on a study abroad trip about four years ago, which was one of the coolest experiences I've had.

Anyone have any travel tips for the Brisbane/Gold Coast region of Australia? Heading there in less than a month.

Late to respond, but that sounds rad! My visa for Australia is good for 1 year and I'm really excited to give this whole living abroad thing a try. Never done anything like it before and the longest I've ever been away from home has been 3 weeks, but I think I'm up for the challenge. Have fun in Toronto by the way! It's a fun city and everyone there was so friendly when I went. Even got to go up the CN Tower for free because I was wearing an Alkaline Trio shirt, haha.

Yeah, I've done 5 of them so far and I'm getting ready to spend a year traveling/working around Australia (and hopefully catching one of those cheap Aussie flights to Indonesia) by myself next month as I have already said earlier in this thread.

It's all I do. I think it's the more rewarding experience, when compared to travelling with friends or other people. There's more of a sense of freedom and less compromise involved. I found out that I met so many more people [and made more friends] by travelling alone, out of necessity, opposed to when travelling with friends where you can get stuck in a little bubble.

Over the past year, I've been living and travelling out in mainland Europe, mainly France and the Netherlands. I've spent the past 3 months working/couchsurfing/hitchhiking around Italy. I also rented a car and couchsurfed around Morocco for a few weeks in January. It was one of the coolest experiences of my life. Drove all across the country, travelling with the people who hosted me in their riad in Salé [first city I arrived in], picking up hitchhikers, driving through Casablanca and Marrakesh, up through the mountains (where I stayed with some local Berber people), and down to the edge of the Sahara desert to camp out. Solo travelling allows for more spontaneity, and I think that makes it vastly superior, more fun and interesting.

I want to take a short trip sometime before the year's over. I'm thinking San Francisco fits the bill.

Have fun! I was there 8 years ago and I loved it and would love to go back to California, but the crappy dollar means that I really won't be visiting America anytime soon sadly. Hopefully by the time I make it back to North America it's greatly improved.

So after semi-drunkenly booking a solo trip to Thailand, on the way to which I have a nine hour layover in Qatar, where I'll be doing a free three hour bus tour, I have a few other things lined up that I need to brag about because my excitement is unable to be contained.

I'll be spending four days in Bangkok. The only thing I have lined up at the moment is a five hour bamboo bicycle tour, mostly on the outskirts of the city. (More info: bamboobikethailand)

Then I fly to Chiang Mai, where the real fun starts:

A private (just the tour guide and me) three day tour through a village and jungle. I'll be staying overnight 'as a guest' in the village and then in a bamboo bungalow. I'll receive two Thai cooking lessons over an open fire, I'll get hands-on field experience, and I'll float down a river in a bamboo raft. The guide and I will also be stopping at the village school (assuming it's open; I'm not sure of their education cycle) and playing with the kids. (More info: http://www.nextstepthailand.com/packages-tours/thai-culture-thailand-jungle/)

Then, on the last of my nine days in Chiang Mai, I'll be going to an elephant sanctuary to walk, bathe and feed rescued elephants. (More info: http://www.elephantnaturepark.org/enp/visit-volunteer/projects/pamper-a-pachyderm-single-day-44/view)

I'm terrified of food poisoning, but other than that, fuck, I'm so stoked. I've never been to SE Asia and I already wish I were able to stay longer.
