Refereeing is a nightmare job that’s filled with no win scenarios, so i’m not trying to be unnecessarily harsh.

If the ref blocks a shot in the box, it should probably be a penalty. There's never a reason for the ref to be in the box during any run of play and this clip shows perfectly why.

From my ref training that I did, you are supposed to try and stay as close to a diagonal line from the corners on the pitch that the your linesman are not in.

I haven’t watched a United game in months and just assumed United were playing today based on this. Took me going to redcafe to realize internationals are happening and you’re referring to Ireland.

Aidy Boothroyd out. How's he still in the job?

Came to say the same thing. England do this all the time. Talented generation coming through wasted by dinosaurs given jobs for the boys.

Glad to see the USMNT trend of playing at least one major player out of position didn’t backfire with Dest.

Solid scoreline without Dike in the lineup ;) But obviously, this isn't Jamaica's strongest lineup. Hope they can work things out with some of their other players that didn't feature tonight.

Sterling so wasteful so far. It might not matter tonight but on the bigger stage...

I should complain more. Goals for DCL and Sterling.

Just thinking about it, England's attacking positions are so damn stacked. Thank fucking god Southgate has changed back to 4 at the back.

  20. JM95

    hmmm

Pretty sure that won't continue. He's picked that squad with a back five in mind, surely.

They're playing Poland next aren't they? Think a back 5 will be needed for Lewandowski alone lol

I think they have Albania but then Poland, but your point still stands. Especially after poland's draw, I'm sure they will be extra motivated to give England some trouble.

I was trying to describe myself to someone

Rio Ferdinand has suggested that if Newcastle fans don't like their ownership, they should buy the club. Don't think maths is his strong suit. Also, I'm pretty sure this idea was mooted years ago and Ashley wouldn't engage with it at all.

I'm sure such nonsense ideas have nothing to do with Mike Ashley stocking his shitty clothing line in his dustbin shops.

Wednesday’s owner suggested that the fans should buy him out. He wants us to find £30 million to buy the club when we complain about how £40 tickets are too expensive.

It is a pretty ludicrous thing to suggest (particularly right now), but with the size of fanbase Wednesday have, it's not completely out of the realms of possibility. If it was a serious option and you consider just the average attendance (around 23000 when the stadia was open), that would be under £1500 for each person who attends a game. Not small fry, but it's not insane money either.

Given what Ashley values Newcastle United at, we'd need every inhabitant of Newcastle to fork out £1300. :crylaugh:

I think the trouble with either suggestion though, is where does any fresh investment come from when you've already emptied the pockets of the fanbase. Do you just immediately have to try selling minority shares to get some cash in?
