Agatha and the military dude who shot children were some of the laziest written villains I've seen in the superhero genre. At least Katherine Hahn is Katherine Hahn, which helped.

I just can’t get over that Wanda is like a super villain in this and it’s just kinda like oh... ya... cool. Rambeau says they have no idea what Wanda sacrificed...? Like wut.

Overall I like this series but a lot of things are head scratching

Lol I did chuckle at her walking past all her meat puppets to apologize to Monica for what she had done. Umm you owe Kitty Foreman an apology please.

That's honestly what left me most underwhelmed, like... I expect most Marvel productions to be CGI-fests by the end, it doesn't even bother me, but I really wanted the fact that Wanda *was* responsible... uh, even addressed?

  5. Aaand then I watched Civil War, haha

I don't think she's particularly close to any of the remaining Avengers, didn't she spend most of her time in the compound or with Vision in between movies?

Truly don’t know what more they could have done to address Wanda’s responsibility for the Hex in this episode. There was a whole scene where the townspeople confronted her about what she did to them. At the end, they all want nothing to do with her but what else could they possibly do in that moment? Attack the most powerful being any of them has ever and likely will ever personally encounter? They’re finally free, they just want her to go the hell away. And also this isn’t the last we’re seeing of Wanda forever, I highly doubt there will be no consequences for her at all in the future of the MCU for what she did to that town. We just don’t see them now because why would we? She leaves in shame and goes into self-imposed exile alone. Like would it have been better for there to be a scene at the end where the president of the United States declares Wanda Public Enemy #1? And then directs General Ross to hunt her down? Would that have been more satisfying?

Kinda didn’t like the finale. The series was fine overall. Daredevil still on top when it comes to MCU shows.

The tone and quality of this episode is what I expected from the entire show, so while I am a bit letdown this was the most "TV comic booky" episode, filled with CGI and cheesy moments, this show still delivered way more than I had expected.

The way the story unfolded was nuanced and intriguing enough to make it truly exciting to wait for the next episode, and the dialogue between Wanda and Vision was always moving. A lot of that still showed in this episode too.

Mid-credits and post-credits were also exciting.

I really liked the finale overall. Didnt love the battles but they were fine. Overall the show is pretty much exactly what I was hoping for, definitely top tier MCU for me. Cant wait for Dr Strange 2!

I agree with a lot of the milder criticisms of the show but by and large this was a really fun watch and I was very happy with it. The only parts I straight up didn’t like were any scene with Hayward. I realize it seems inescapable but the last thing I want in a superhero movie is the American military lol

Really liked the show, liked the finale overall. I know people are a little disappointed that this didn’t end up being as strange or experiential as it seemed like it could have been early on in the season, but I think the writing was on the wall for that after last week.

it did a good job of wrapping up the show as reasonably possible. Opening up a can of works like Mephisto would have been way too much for a 40 minute episode. We got the signature balance of closure and unanswered questions that the MCU normally brings

As far as Wanda being held more responsible, I’m not sure what people really wanted for that. A post credits scene where the townspeople have a dunk tank to try to drop Wanda??

I think fleeing to self isolate and learn more about her power that she used to accidentally torture an entire town says enough about accountability. An apology to the townspeople at that point would be more self serving for her, I don’t they’d really care what she had to say to them at that point. Not to mention I’m sure we haven’t seen/heard the last of her relationship with westview, in one way or another.

It's one of the MCUs fatal flaws: they take dramatic shortcuts that skip over hard but meaningful things to get to the surface level textures that people like about the MCU. It's not that she needed to go apologize individually to every single person, but it's the tone of the show and what was skipped over. Vision investigating the mystery of what Wanda created was one of the most interesting things happening, and once he figures it out, his next interaction with Wanda isn't a reckoning with how she stole his agency as well as everyone in town's: it was him jumping in to save her. No emotional fallout, no directly dealing with the conflict between them. Just the action finale, then the tender good-bye (which was a very good scene but very little about the ending was earned).

The show (and a lot of other MCU stuff) tries to have it both ways: the likable main character does something wrong and on some level knows it's wrong (Wanda is aware she has control over this sitcom world and that other people are inside it and she's controlling them and Vision too), but it's not all her fault because it was Agatha All Along! Except in the next episode we learn it actually wasn't Agatha All Along, it was nearly all Wanda. The key conflict and problem is her doing, and in the finale it doesn't feel like the proper weight is given to that. I mean, the final action sequence is all about her identity and being the Scarlet Witch, which is not the driving theme of the show. It speaks nothing to her grief and loss of control, it's just magic bullshit that got small expository scenes that don't actually explain all that much, logistically or emotionally.

I mean, after she comes to the understanding of just how horrific an effect what she did had on real people, she turns right around and uses it as punishment on Agatha. What did she learn, then? Cruelty is okay when deployed against someone who you think deserves it?

I think simply having Vision bring the people’s suffering to Wanda’s attention instead of Agatha would’ve made a difference. You can still have her start to break the illusion & back out because she’ll lose her family, and you can also still have Agatha flaunt Wanda’s responsibility for hurting the people around her. Just, make it a character scene between Wanda & Vision, instead of part of the big Agatha mess.

Though, I also don’t think they should’ve played up the townspeople’s suffering so much. You could tweak some threads along the way to make it so they’re happy with the fake world, too. Going further down that road leads to a retread of Civil War, so I’d rather see them just... not go down that road. At least in that way. Still have the fact that Wanda’s lie affected the people around her, but more in the “everything we do affects those around us” way & less in the “she held people hostage” kinda way. The latter muddies the intended themes way too much.

Also... Why couldn’t Agatha have been doing some of that Scarlet Witch head magic to Wanda? Actually play with the “Agatha All Along” thing, making it more clear that Wanda didn’t know she was hurting people like that.
