Made somewhat of a manic purchase to take advantage of the Scream factory sale.

Agreed. So effective and it holds up quite well. Can't imagine having seen this in theaters at that time.

The remake is great. The POV gimmick is cool and it pulls it off well.

  10. It does! It's gorgeously shot, unique, and effective as an homage to and expansion of the Alien universe. I saw it in theaters and a couple times since, but this was maybe my favorite watch yet. And THAT scene holds up, so tense and terrifying. I also love Covenant though, and I literally never see you in this thread, so you MUST have some strong words about it lol.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

    Prometheus was great

Covenant was so bad it made me want to undo all the effort I'd put into defending Prometheus retroactively lol. rewatched it late last year, with all the deleted scenes and prequels and shit trying to get the full picture and understand the movie... nope, still hate it

I have still not watched covenant yet because of how many people said it's bad or not worth a watch, in addition to my feelings about Prometheus so forgive me if it's further explained but the xenomorph cliffhanger always felt contrived to me. Good movie that could have worked fine on it's own idk just kinda lost interest despite being 98% into Prometheus

I always enjoyed Prometheus but Covenant really let me down.

Watched My Friend Dahmer last night. Very disturbing film with some pretty great performances. Didn't realize Alex Wolff was in it and the character/setting have some parallels with Hereditary. Dark and sad and kinda like We Need to Talk About Kevin.

  14. (I also love Alien Covenant lmao)

I honestly think outside of AVP: Requiem, even with the flaws of Alien 3 and Ressurection, Alien might be one of the most consistently interesting horror franchises.

I’m still miffed that Ridley ruined the mystery of the xenomorph, like mystery is part of their appeal.

Watching Cemetery of Terror now. Slow start, but solid atmosphere

I have to plug Tubi (again if I have before). They have so much obscure horror on there. A ton of Letterboxd reviews for this referenced other Italian horror flicks and Tubi has every one.

The Dark and the Wicked was awesome. I was generally unnerved the entire time and it delivered with thrills and chills.

I thought Saint Maud was pretty good. Would absolutely lose my mind if GdT saw my first movie and openly praised it like this.

  24. Is it available for rent? Justwatch isn't showing it as streaming anywhere other than DirectTV(?)

  25. Did the Vast of Night which I found charming but obviously very slow. Following it up with Jason Goes to Hell (lol) and The Thing with Paul Rust and smart Gourley's commentary
