Is "cancelled" the right word or just "moved" again. Yes I understand they are essentially the same thing, but only one of those answers means I keep my ticket

Coachella hasn’t said, this was the town making the decision for them. They’ll probably announce later whether or not they’re aiming for October or next April. I personally feel like whatever decision they make you’ll probably be able to hold onto your ticket with the option to refund like the last 2 times.

Really hope they allow us to keep tickets. Feel like everyone is going to be trying to go whenever it happens so I just want my spot secured

Sounds like they will continue to honor the tickets, which makes me feel a lot better

It's 2/9 and we're just under 3% vaccinated. Start planning for 2022 Coachella.

25,000 people can attend the Super Bowl (13,000 of them unvaccinated) but concerts of any and all capacities still completely shut down.

EDIT: this is just an observation, don't come for me

Concerts should absolutely be shut down. It was stupid of the Super Bowl to do that.

Super Bowl also was held in Florida where covid apparently doesn’t exist.

Coachella is in CA which has tried to be restrictive

Sigh, I had to go to Florida for work last week and it was utterly terrifying. Back home in Colorado, I haven't seen a single maskless person since last June. Then I had to go to Florida for a few days and saw more maskless people than I could count.

It's definitely a florida thing. I think any festival or concert is allowed to happen here. It just depends on the artist or event organizers if they want to. We haven't seen like every band that gets mentioned on this site playing shows here In Florida cause they care. But I guarantee it's only a matter of time before we get a ton of butt rock bands playing here :/

I had no idea the Super Bowl had unvaccinated, I also don't watch football, but I assumed it would be a fully vaxxed crowd, shows what I know

    The angle should not be:

The Super Bowl let 13,000 unvaccinated people into the stadium to watch the game, so it is unfair that regular concerts are not allowed in any capacity.

    The angle should be:

The Super Bowl let 13,000 unvaccinated people in the stadium to watch the game, which was reckless, a mistake, and set a bad example. Concerts should still not be happening until more of the population is vaccinated and health officials deem it safe to hold mass gatherings.

While that sucks and his expected. I have a feeling will see some small amp fest which will be headlined by like saliva or puddle of mud with a string of washed up 2000s radio bands. I could see that happening by summer unfortunately. And the florida crowd would love it :/

    Apologies for misunderstanding you but...

What were you trying to say then? We have known for a while that Florida is not a state to look to on how to handle the pandemic. I’m just confused why you brought it up because it sounded like, with no other reasoning given, you were saying concerts should return because of something Florida did.

I had explicitly said it was just an observation about the hypocrisy that a Super Bowl can happen but concerts cannot. It was really just characterizing it as "unfair" that I had a problem with - definitely didn't say that word. I don't think we can pin the Super Bowl happening on it just being a "Florida thing" - I would expect the NFL would have allowed 25,000 to attend regardless of where it was held. This year's just so happened to be scheduled in Florida of all places. Really, I just don't understand why it was even worth it for them to promote that 7500 vaccinated people were attending when 13,000 unvaccinated also did. I think it would have been possible for it to be a vaccinated-only attendance.

I don't, however, understand the sustained mentality on this site that concerts & festivals still won't be happening for a year or more. A good majority of us will be fully vaccinated by this fall. At that point, events can and should be happening again. The highest risk groups are getting vaccinated first, which will cause the number of COVID deaths to drop significantly, so keeping this entire industry shut down at that point does not make sense. I can understand the pessimism based on the current situation, but I don't get the confidence of the "it's not happening, period" crowd. Things can, and will, change really rapidly now that the vaccine is coming.

I see concerts happening mid-Summer honestly with heavy restrictions, Fall should be lessened restrictions and then Winter will be play by ear

One thing to also keep in mind is the majority of acts that people on this site listen to (and thus would want to see) seem to be falling on the side of masks/social distancing/restrictions. It would look stupid for anyone trying to maintain their brand to go and play shows in the few states that allow them. I live in NYC and we have had (next to LA) some of the harshest and most restrictive lockdown rules since March. The other top markets for touring (again, outside of the dumb ones) also have had similar measures so it likely makes no sense to try to mount a tour of any kind playing only the areas that will allow these types of gatherings as not only would acts be taking their crews to various at-risk places but they also would, inadvertently, be encouraging morons to travel and thus spread more infections.

As others have pointed out, don't be surprised to see acts typically playing State Fairs to do shows (Shinedown, Puddle Of Mudd, etc)

All speculation, but I'd also wouldn't be surprised if by summer some larger acts start performing at small clubs and audience members have to provide proof of vaccination. As an effort to raise money and keep these struggling venues from going under.

I can't speak for everyone but I'm trying to base my expectations in realism. Every timeline prediction about this pandemic has unfortunately been off and everything has taken longer than expected. We're currently at roughly 3% full vaccination rate and it's mid-February. You are correct in that vaccine availability and logistics could get exponentially better in the coming months but don't forget tours take a lot of time to plan and route. Right now, it likely seems to risky to even PLAN an event for the summer knowing that there is a likelihood for cancelling/rescheduling which then gets into all sorts of insurance/refunding/logistical nightmares. If you have the option, I think most booking agents/managers want to err on the side of caution and not have to reschedule which is why we are seeing a lot of acts aim for 2022 at this point.

I imagine NYC-area having so many "Live Music is Back" type benefits, going to be insane.

Very good chance that the “XXX” name is under radius clause with Coachella. If that’s the case, all of these acts are out for Coachella.
