Nah this is actually a great response and I don't think articulating why you don't like them is shitting on them at all because these are all legit preferences. Thanks for outlining it when you didn't have to! Yeah this all fair, maybe they came to me at the right time but the lyrics never bothered me at all because I like sincerity and that's how they come off to me. The songwriting I think is pretty different between all three of their LPs but I don't have the best ear for being able to pick out the mechanics of it, so perhaps you're right. Simplicity for the sake of sincerity never bothered me though.

What are some bands that might tour with Brand New in the future perhaps once they go back to the UK...go

Yeah and I definitely think that element of 'simplicity for the sake of sincerity' really can go hand in hand with time and place like you said. There's definitely bands I really dig that I could understand other people not liking, but I was in the right mindset when I first heard it, which is the beauty of music I guess haha.

yeah, for sure. I was fifteen(?) when I first heard their first album, so it was all pretty much up my alley. I also just appreciate people just not having a lot of technical chops and just doing it anyway, that was a thing about punk and indie that I really loved and drew me to it, and so I'm a sucker for it for life now. That emotional connection sort of supersedes a lot for me, goes a long way.

I'm more bitter than I should be about my copy of IAAN not having come with a PMT-007 sticker.

    Keep on moving. Busy street.

Last year MoBo did a Q&A on tumblr and I asked them whether their name was an American Football reference. They replied that they had never heard of them until a few months after the release of Sports.

I'm kind of disappointed that I didn't get one, either. Then again, I'm not sure where I'd put it or the two that I got.

So, someone on Reddit discovered that the thing on the woman's head in the IAAN cover is Uranus. Kinda funny.

Anybody here know the band Heyrocco? Recently discovered them and their singer has a familiar voice. It shares some similarities with Jesse, Conor Oberst yet feels fresh at the same time. Anyways I thought I'd mention them in here since no one has probably heard of them.

Started playing guitar again after a 5-year "break" and I've relearned how to play Jesus, Luca, and Bought a Bride. Feels good.

Nice! Brand New was one of the bands that really helped me come into my own on guitar. D&G and Daisy are two of the most fun albums to jam along with front to back.

Wow, that's a big break, nice that you got back into it. For Jesus did you learn it the way it is on record or that "folk" version Jesse/KDev does when they play it live acoustic? I've been trying to find stuff for the latter, and didn't get much but it's been a while.
If you wanted to do a tutorial vid/post for any of those, that would be really cool. I am legitimately awful at interpreting some tabs, though the lyric book helped me quite a bit with Luca.
