Does Baltimore (that's where you said you're from, right?) require party affiliation to run for their City Council?

It does not require it. Democrats essentially run this city, but there is a Green Party here.

I mean, there is enough of a reason not to vote for Hillary, aside from her foundation, which is likely a tool for furthering her ambitions. Her support of Israel, for example, uses the bodies of Palestinians to make her an electable candidate. (most liberals don't care about that, but it is an actual reality)

  12. The real scandal would be if she only met with 156 people during her tenure. Heh.

I would bet just about anything that Missouri doesn't go blue. It's a perfect storm of rural, right-leaning, post-industry, anti-establishment, and Claire Mccaskill being awful has laid fertile foundation for misogynistic sentiment. Heck, Missouri hates McCaskill so much that it almost elected Todd "the female body can reject rape pregnancy" Akin over her.

Ah and the real issue is the use of hundreds of millions in charity for neoliberal projects designed to benefit the wealthy, and ultimately the Clintons. Of course the republicans would be proud of this if there wasn't a D by her name and the liberals are worthless when it comes to recognizing neoliberal policies at work so we're left to hear about the people she had lunch with.

  21. Donald Trump’s $100,000 “donation” to Louisiana flood victims went to a local anti-gay hate group
It turns out Donald Trump’s attempt at using the Louisiana flooding as a campaign photo op is getting worse for him by the minute. The original optics were bad enough when he showed up and spent less than a minute unloading some Play-Doh from a truck before leaving. Then local authorities disputed his claim that the Play-Doh truck was even donated by him. And after he claimed that he had made a $100,000 donation but reporters couldn’t track it down, he’s now admitting the donation went to a local anti-gay hate group.

Trump’s six figure “donation” actually went to a group called the Greenwell Springs Baptist Church, which is a local front for ‘interim pastor” Tony Perkins, the head of the Family Research Council – a notorious anti LGBT entity disguised as a family values group and now disguised as a church. Perkins lost his home in the flood, a story which garnered significant headlines for its irony after so many anti-gay “pastors” had previously claimed that Hurricane Katrina had hit Louisiana as part of God’s wrath against gay people.

  23. Catching up on reading, so time to share-spam:

Did Colin Powell advise Clinton to use a private email?
Over the weekend, he told a reporter for the New York Post’s Page Six, “Her people have been trying to pin it on me,” with evident annoyance. “The truth is she was using [her personal email] for a year before I sent her a memo telling her what I did,” he said.

But last June, while reporting on Powell’s advice to Clinton for my book, I contacted his office for comment—and got a very different answer.

His principal assistant, Margaret “Peggy” Cifrino, informed me then via email that their calendar showed that the Albright dinner had occurred in June 2009. While he didn’t recall some details of the dinner because it had occurred seven years ago, according to Cifrino, he remembered what he did and didn’t say to Clinton on the topic in question that evening:

He does recall sharing with Secretary Clinton his use of his email account and how useful it was and transformative for the Department. He knew nothing then or until recently about her private home server and a personal domain, nor, therefore, could he have advised her on that or suggested it. By June I would assume her email system was already set up.

So it is perplexing for him to say he doesn’t remember that dinner conversation at all now, since, according to his own assistant, he remembered at least some of what he said as recently as two months ago.

  25. https://www.apnews.com/d98c99e86265...-of-religious-war:-Trump-staff's-online-posts
Donald Trump's paid campaign staffers have declared on their personal social media accounts that Muslims are unfit to be U.S. citizens, ridiculed Mexican accents, called for Secretary of State John Kerry to be hanged and stated their readiness for a possible civil war, according to a review by The Associated Press of their postings.

The AP examined the social media feeds of more than 50 current and former campaign employees who helped propel Trump through the primary elections. The campaign has employed a mix of veteran political operatives and outsiders. Most come across as dedicated, enthusiastic partisans, but at least seven expressed views that were overtly racially charged, supportive of violent actions or broadly hostile to Muslims.

A graphic designer for Trump's advance team approvingly posted video of a black man eating fried chicken and criticizing fellow blacks for ignorance, irresponsibility and having too many children. A Trump field organizer in Virginia declared that Muslims were seeking to impose Sharia law in America and that "those who understand Islam for what it is are gearing up for the fight."

In a normal election this is the kind of thing that ends a race. This election cycle is so fucked up Trump won't even have to apologize or fire anyone.
