I just finished this and WOW what an ending lol

my assumption is we will quickly find out navarro has more people working for him than we know about. Him killing Helen bc he found out she was orchestrating a coup of the byrds makes sense i guess but how he found out is more important.

Also is there aaaaaaaaaaaany chance Ben isnt actually dead?

Idk what purpose it would serve, but i just had this weird thought Nelson didnt actually kill him and delivered a random corpse to Marty and Navarro knows Ben isnt actually dead when Wendys calls?

idk probably not but maybe but probably not

Watching this with my wife. She really enjoys it. Feels kinda hollow to me. A lot of stuff you really have to suspend belief for. I mean he would have been busted immediately after dissolving his firm and his partner immediately going missing.

Again, only about to finish season 2 but it’s short enough for us to finish the series to date.

Another issue I have is all of Marty’s drama becomes way too much of a hassle for the cartel. I feel like they would’ve killed him immediately. Even on paper, the Snell/Cartel alliance doesn’t hold up at all. And that’s before everything starts getting messy. Lastly, I don’t see the government letting the casino go through with all the circumstantial evidence they have against Marty.

I mean, i think suspending disbelief a *little* sort of comes with the territory of these crime dramas. even the GOATs like Breaking Bad and Sopranos and to a lesser extent Sons of Anarchy have moments where you were like ‘come onnnnnnnn no way’ - i don’t think that makes it a bad show. Ozark does suffer a bit from what i call “of course they find a way out of this” syndrome lol - like marty and to a greater extent wendy always find a way out of trouble lol

like THAT takes me out of it more than a suspension of disbelief that marty should get caught. just knowing no matter what they get into they always find a way out kinda takes away from some of the more dramatic moments of the show, without spoiling anything.

Agreed. I mean my primary form of entertainment is pro wrestling, so I deal with my fair share of “how stupid is this”. It’s not so much that it’s unbelievable but more of I feel like they’re trying to be smart but not delivering on that. Breaking Bad definitely had that “syndrome” you’re describing but it still felt really earned when they got out of those situations

Here's what I always thought would be a good roundabout twist for Ozark:

Unbeknownst to anyone on Marty's side, the major drug kingpin from the start was Sugarwood. He was a wealthy and influential man in Chicago, the major drug hub in that area - Del's men throwing him from the roof wasn't a random act of violence, it was a rival cartel execution.

This opens a lot of doors - has Navarro and his organization been playing the Byrdes from the start? Did Wendy know? Would she ever let on if she did?

Alright, 3 episodes into season 3 and I think I’m done. Wife will continue to watch and I’ll probably keep tabs in the background. But like what happened to the lodge and setup club and funeral home? Why do they introduce characters and act like we should immediately know who they are? They did that the first two seasons too.

Took me a while to realize that Wendy’s brother is Ward from Iron Fist. Couldn’t stand him in Iron Fist. Don’t understand why he has an accent in this show
