When I was in 7th/8th grade I was into obscure nu-metal bands (think second stage Ozzfest lineups 2000-03) and every now and then I fall into a YouTube rabbit hole. It's very sad and I have a hard time admitting this to my loved ones that I still like a few of these songs

This doesn't belong here as this shouldn't be unpopular.

Oh shit I used to know a Pressure 4-5 song back then. Had it on a terrible mix. Totally blanking though

Some bands that had no business being termed nu metal just had the misfortune to be making heavy alt rock at the time:

Deftones, Finger Eleven, Fuel, Our Lady Peace, etc.

Probably "Beat the World"? You could look it up on YouTube but careful of that rabbit hole

I don't even think that. Nu metal wasn't funky or political. Maaaaaaybe they helped with the rap rock part. But the murky, faceless guitar walls, inaudibly tuned down bass and baritone poor-me lyrics aren't in their work at all.

Korn/Limp Bizkit/Staind can be blamed for nu metal

Yeah that was the one. Now I'm humming it, as much as you can a song with that little melody. Haha

Our Lady Peace was absolutely underlooked despite being very popular in their time

S/T sounds like it could have been made this year, it's remarkable that it's 25 years old.

Evil Empire is my favorite though. That record is just mean, and as much shit Tom Morello may get he has some real unfuckwithable tones.

Every live vid of "Bulls on Parade" I see it just doesn't have the same vibe of the studio version. That riff could wake a cadaver
