Re-watched the doc again last night, the parts with Tom talking about making certain songs and how they were put together were the best parts and really interesting. I also liked how he talks about going to a music festival and seeing bands like NOFX on stage making jokes, screwing up while playing songs and having fun and it made him think that's something he could do. That's the exact reason why I fell in love with Blink because Tom and Mark seemed like just two friends that decided to make music and have fun, it seemed like something my friends and I could do. Which makes what happened to the band even more depressing, especially since it happened twice.

I also don't think Tom was putting Mark down. I think that comment perfectly sums up the two guys and where they are in life and their careers. Mark is perfectly happy being in Blink and that's it, he doesn't want to do anything else. Tom wants to do music, art, books, movies, go to Saturn, which is fine too. I do think Travis and Mark are right when they said Tom just out grew Blink.

If Tom is happy with what he's going right now, that's great. Hopefully in the future Mark and Tom can be friends again but with that being said I don't really want the "new" Tom back with the band, I just don't think he's capable of working with them or being able to make music as good as what's on California.

Love hearing Tom talk about NOFX in such admiration... as Fat Mike actually can't stand him

 

I thought it was funny he was talking about the CIA meeting and he was like "this camera was too big to sneak in" so he says he snuck in another one that's barely smaller and you're not going to sneak by anybody. His stories come off as so unbelievable lol.

 

I loved his story about Oasis.

 

Yeah I can listen to him talking about music all day any day but when he starts up with his other "art" projects I zone out quicker than "Built This Pool".

 

Lawn is sold out - right now cheapest for two lawn tickets is like $170..Im just gonna spend like $30 more and just get them nice seats I guess.

 

I was actually pretty fascinated hearing about To The Stars, you can tell he's super passionate about everything he's doing right now.

 

That's crazy! Definitely did not expect that.

 

Oh absolutely, which is why the "Tom doesn't look like he wants to be there" jokes have been around since 2009. When he's passionate about something he wants to do he'll be excited and go on and on about it. When he's doing something that he doesn't want to do (Blink) or his heart isn't in it (Blink) you know about it because he's plugging his other projects he's passionate about. Literally the only time Tom has been passionate about Blink since 2005 was the 2 or 3 weeks he was plugging DED, of all things for some strange reason.

 

I think he was excited about being able to release blink music on his own schedule, independently, without a label, and the doors he felt were opening in the future using that method. Unfortunately, things didn't pan out.

 

Anyone else see at the very end of the documentary credits that it stated "Archival images and footage used under license from to the stars, inc and 'the blinkumentary'"? Maybe it will actually come of fruition someday. First mention I've seen of it in a while.
