This is a good thread.

 

tomorrow is the trash pickup day where a bunch of people throw away like old furniture and other stuff.

I was up at 4 am to drop my dad off at the airport and seeing some of these cars out here just searching through stuff that early was insane.

but also totally reasonable since some people throw away some good stuff.

 

I worked with a woman whose husband went around picking up the stuff college kids sat by the curb. He would resell it and that's how they paid for their vacations.

 

My best friend does that with old furniture. She's amazingly talented. And also kind of a hoarder with a house full of garbage.

 

I work as a photographer for an estate sale and consignment liquidator of vintage, antique, jewelry, furniture and art and trust me, nobody has seen a bigger collection of junk in people's homes than me. gotta go through some real shit to find the gems. i'm a real sucker for a good cheap find and repurposing it myself though, gotta admit.

 

I would love to do that stuff, but I feel like I'd end up with a bunch of fix-up projects filling my whole house and never get around to them. But old and vintage things fascinate me. I want to fill a whole house with art deco shit.

 

I wish I was into antiques but I'm a typical stupid millennial

There is legit some really good stuff in these piles and I hope people take it.

I used to grab small stuff like boxes and stuff for my vinyl or pray to randomly find cool video games.

 

When I would move, I would throw tons of shit away bc I was tired of packing.

 

Watch some Antiques Roadshow. They make everything sound so important and valuable that you'll feel like a putz if you don't appreciate it. Haha

a few years ago American pickers and pawn stars were the only shows I watched.

I then got frustrated with American pickers because they be like this item is worth $500 and we never actually saw how much it sold for.

I have no ability to fix things up but that sounds like a cool job


I try not to own too much. I hate clutter so when ppl give it to me it goes straight to the trash. When I buy new clothes I try to get rid of some too. I just hate having so much stuff. Sometimes it sucks tho cause I'll look for something and realize I gave it away

 

But then I feel bad that something worth a fortune isn't just lying around

 

all I do is disappoint and also working with produce has made me hate almost all of it.

 

Omg get a new job!! That's tragic

 

Never know. I always hope I'm gonna drive by a yard sale and someone won't know their grandpa's old archtop guitar is worth me buying.

Of course, then I'd overpay for it because I'd feel bad about ripping them off.

Clearly I don't have the killer instinct for this shit.

 

I always buy too much produce and it goes bad before I can eat all of it.

 

I'm actually exaggerating but working with some of those produce is actually kind of gross.

i enjoy the atmosphere and people there but finding some of the rotten produce is the worst.
