I have nothing against Granholm, but what has she done that makes her a good fit for the Energy Department? She was attorney general and then governor of MI. Doesn't exactly scream "leader of the energy department"

Hey, wasn't that Rick Perry's resume too? If he can do it, she can do it lol

But that's why I asked about Moniz. He's a teacehr at MIT or something like that isn't he? I assume he knows how to do the job (even ignoring that he's already done it once). That's actually probably why I'd go elswhere ohter than him TBH, i just want fresh blood in there.

I think that's the problem with how bad Trump's picks were. Since he just put totally unqualified people in positions, Biden's picks just look so much better, even if he is basically doing that too, just not to the same extent. I mean, Trump appointed a guy who said he wanted to get rid of the energy department lol. But still, the bar for Biden's cabinet has been set low, a bit too low based on what I have been seeing.

I don't know much about Moniz, but he definitely is more qualified than her.

Yeah the HUD pick is the only one I actually like so far, and even that’s tainted by reports she wanted secretary of Agriculture (selfishly I prefer her at HUD, we need an ally there). Most are kind of expected disappointments but some are just awful and dangerous. A little worse than my low expectations overall so far. Still holding out hope on EPA

What’s stopping us from implementing better transportation infrastructure is...the language barrier

If we are looking at how Biden's cabinet picks have been,

Treasury: Yellen - Warren gave her approval so I guess she can't be that bad
State: Blinken - Haven't seen any major red flags but still not good
    Defense: Austin - yeesh
    Agriculture: Vilsack - yikes
HHS: Becerra - personally I like it, probably my favorite pick so far
    HUD: Fudge - good pick
Energy: Granholm - okay? Don't see how she fits though
    Transportation: Buttigieg - trash
VA: McDonough - could have been better
Homeland Security: Mayorkas - mostly positive reception it seems

I'd probably give him maybe a C at this point. Still some important positions yet to be announced.

Thread. Obviously a political pick, but he did alright as a mayor with transportation and urban planning. Anthony Foxx was another small city mayor and he did alright in the job, I think.

If Designated Survivor has taught me anything, then it's that HUD secretary has good chances of becoming president

Lame. Will never forgive or trust McCarthey for ignoring the cries from Flint. I do like NRDC though so hopefully they have a lot of influence there.

is this like the domestic version of Kerry's role? Curious how it differs from the EPA.
