My physics professors would have laughed if someone called them doctor and that includes Nobel prize winners lol. Silly overall.

And, apropos of this conversation, I literally just got an email from my former college announcing the passing of a professor (didn't know her at all, not sure if COVID) referring to her solely as Dr. [Her name]. Like, this isn't an unusual thing in academia and the guy who wrote the article obviously knew that

This seems like the kind of thing that occurs every couple weeks, where some idiot says some dumb shit and initially everyone just makes fun of it for being dumb, but then it becomes a "conversation" and suddenly we're all spending tons of mental energy on this thing that nobody actually cares about

Every professor I ever had with a doctorate went by Doctor and nobody ever questioned it

I wouldn’t question it, probably have like a 5 second internal lol moment but no one really cares tbh.

Also yeah, I had a teacher in high school with a PhD so we called him “Dr. C”. I had a professor in college for sociology who wanted us to call her Dr.

A professor I have right now who has a PhD in civil engineering and we call her Dr.

if you have a PhD you can be referred to as Dr. I don’t know what some people don’t get lol

PhD literally stands for Doctor of Philosophy, this is a complete non-issue and a typical example of conservatives grasping at straws to distract from actually meaningful issues.

If i worked that hard in ANY subject to have a doctorate..you're damn certain I'd prefer to be called that in a professional/leadership situation.

Now if I'm out for a jog (this is as likely as me having a doctorate) I wouldn't expect anyone to call me "doctor"

ETA: Can you imagine if Melania had a Dr. before her name and we ignored it? THE OUTRAGE!

I have a phd in the history of science, and here in Germany it is completly normal that I have a "Dr." in front of my name.

But at the same time, as my professor (supervisor) told me in my first week at the department when she offered we call each other by our first names: people who insist on being referred to as Dr. all the time have a problem with themselves.

Dunno, my two cents. I don't see the big deal, ofc she is a "Dr."

Lol just imagine if someone always wanted to be called doctor.

    Cashier: okay ma’am that’ll be $10.65
    You: That’s Dr. to you

I'm gonna start making people address me by my professional title. EMT-B KELLY, EMS COORDINATOR extraordinaire (the coordinator part, EMT-B is literally Basic AF)

Kidding (maybe). But this is all non-news. She's "Dr Biden", people need to get over it.

It's weird having Biden after having 5 presidents in a row that were easy to impoersonate their voice and cadance and etc. Biden doesn't really have many of those qualities that make him easy to impersonate. Maybe in his old age you can hit some of his word stumbles and his "catch phrases", but he very much has that mid-atlantic accent that...doesn't really stand out lol
