Finally at the point of not watching any RAW or SD at all. Maybe it'll freshen things up for me. I'll stick with the Wednesday War shows, and PPVs until crowds are back.

Went back and watched Raw... man is this show tanking. Everything just has this sheen of pure redundancy right now. So many dead gimmicks and bad storylines. Is Edge really writing this stuff?

Apparently we are now at the point where both shows are being re-written and finished minutes before they go on air...so, this is not surprising

 

this has been the case for like 5-10 years lol

 

When was the last time raw was consistently good?

 

I dont think RAW has ever been good since the brand split. Closest it might have gotten was that fall, where New Day were longest-reigning champs, Jeri-KO was happening, Sasha/Charlotte was ongoing...but, pretty frequently every RAW ended with Roman standing tall. And Smackdown was happening at the same time and leagues better.

On and off, yeah...but I dont remember seeing both shows at the same time; and its especially weird when they have full control of talent, no house show injuries, etc.

 

I was just asking because I was thinking about it this morning. Like I have still enjoyed watching it for the most part but I can’t think of a stretch week to week where I was like damn I can’t wait for raw. But it’s also hard to try to remember when it all just blends in year by year

 

This is the go-home show to Roadblock, when theoretically RAW was at its best, in terms of having lots of good stories going. The recap makes it painfully clear that RAW is 3hrs long: Raw results, Dec. 12, 2016: The New Day make tag team history

The story lines involved that filled the extra hour:
- Alicia Fox wants to fight Bayley because she talked to her bf Cedric
- Big Cass wanting revenge the week after Lana seduced Enzo into a hotel room and Rusev pummeled him
- Mick Foley pretends to trade Sami for Eva Marie to fire him up

And as expected, the show ended with Roman spearing KO multiple times as Jericho abandoned him.

edit: And every one of those good stories would be ruined in some way within 2-3 months. Sasha would tap at the last second and lose the Iron Man match. KO loses to Goldberg. Roman faces the Undertaker. Seth Rollins sells a knee injury w/ HHH for like 4 straight months. Sami lost to Jinder in the ARMBAR, Rusev didnt even make the show.

 

I was actually at the raw the week before that one

 

I was at the RAW like 2-3 weeks after KO won the belt. And again right before the pandemic hit, and man, you could feel the drop in quality. RAW in 2016 was bad, but it still had the attitude era "we'll trainwreck between segments and things are always moving" feel. RAW in March was "lets put on a match that lasts 15 mins that ends in a DQ and becomes a 40+ minute 8-man tag".

 

That Alicia Fox storyline fucking ruled. She was so damn entertaining.

 

is the roster still super thin right now because of covid? i feel like in the 10 minutes that i turn on Smackdown every week i see the same 1 of 5 different wrestlers every single time.

 

Just watched the new NWA show. Definitely needs a crowd for that one. And after finally seeing Mike Bennett wrestle I don’t see why what he could have done in wwe even with a push. Just seemed very generic
