Unfortunately it's not just theater, it has real world consequences on the transition and America's preparedness/ability to deal with things like the pandemic and national security.

Which, I assume, is also the point. If not from Trump himself, then at least from his enablers.

 

Too many people in the US not understanding statistics, so now we’re antiscience and anti mathematics! Yay!

The President is stoking fear, white resentment, and anger so his family can profit.

pretty much exactly what I feared would happen is happening because we've seen it before:

The right constructs a strawman of the left's behavior, in this scenario refusal to accept the election results, which is a huge exaggeration of how the left actually behaved

But then when the shoe is on the other foot, the right then behaves exactly like their strawman of the left did.

Was the same with Obama's executive orders. And is gonna be the same with post-election protests.

 

I really hope they all get disciplined by their respective state bars.

Great, so it seems like it’s going to come to the result of mass right violence and an appropriate federal response, which will then be used as evidence of being in a “socialist/communist” oppressive state. Can’t see how, unless theres a massive change after the election, it doesn’t come to this.

 

To me this just shows that someone with more conviction, smarts, and a better public speaker can totally take a giant portion of this country and then this country to authoritarianism. I think the idea that strongman cults can not happen in America is out the fucking window. Republicans have sold their fucking souls for power. Republicans who were personally insulated by Trump are now his biggest fucking sycophants. The idea that this country somehow has this magic resistance to the lure of authoritarianism is hilariously wrong and last four years shows the pathway for someone to go even farther then Trump.

 

while dems fight online or whatever is going on right now, this is just ... seen as the GOP and everyone is just kinda I guess cool with it?

Update: my area is now 5th in the nation for rising cases.

Winter is going to be disastrous.

I don't think Trump would be doing anything differently re: COVID even if he won the election
