also I didn’t even know there were left libertarians until like a year ago

 

This is the same thing we've seen with COVID:

- It's a hoax.
- Okay, it does exist, but it's not that bad.
- People that are dying from COVID had other health problems.
- Eh, well maybe COVID killed them. Maybe it didn't. Guess we'll never know. Inflated numbers regardless!

We had a couple that owned a bar here that both died after the wife came back from a birthday trip in southern Missouri. Both fairly healthy and in their 40s/50s. Everyone knows it was COVID, but their family (a bunch of deniers) said "Well they had other health problems, so we'll never really know if it was COVID so quit saying it was." It's endlessly frustrating.

There are absolutely some messaging nuances that we’re not gonna perfectly work out in a Chorus politics thread, but I reject the notion that this means “lie to win” in the way you’re describing.

It’s not about lying about the end goal; it’s about framing the end goal in a way that makes sense & is easier to promote. Like, in a way, talking about the better systems that’ll exist on the tail end of this police stuff is talking about the end goal!

 

And then there was one, congrats OAN on cornering the market

 

that would be cool if sometime in our lives the public could vote on legislation directly

maybe via Face ID type tech

that could hold elected officials more accountable to their constituents

Like, it may sound stupid, but I think the American voter has proven at this point that they are indeed that....idk what the word is...gullible?

 

Isn’t this literally a Black Mirror episode. Or a book or something? I swear I’ve read this dystopian story somewhere before with people voting yes/no on all kinds of mundane details of legislation throughout the day.

I mean is it the worst idea ever for us the public to vote on some domestic policy? Straight from the House too. We’re anxious about any would be half measure climate, covid, healthcare, and education legislation, or lack there of.

 

They are banking on this SO hard in r/conservative. It's hilarious to watch in real time. Also yes I know going there is a silly thing even if it's for my own entertainment
