It's gonna rule when literally half the country believes forever that the president of the United States was elected illegitimately. That won't have any lasting effects I'm sure.

A "chilling effect" on what? Not getting health insurance? Good. THAT'S THE FUCKING POINT!!!

I know republicans hate the ACA, but I still can't fucking believe they choose to have this conversation NOW in a pandemic where hundreds of thousands are dead. I know it's been said a million times already, but Jesus.

If there is a God, they're going to have a lot to answer to when they die.

I'd love for Clarence Thomas to experience the "chilling effect" of being buried 6 feet underground* **

Nothing in that polling mentions M4A or the GND at all.

Unfortunately, the republicans have largely succeeded at making the term "Green New Deal" politically toxic in certain places, so even if you support aspects of it (being concerned about climate change, thinking the federal government should spend more on green/renewable energy) it still may not be politically helpful to say you support the GND.

And the question about health care was clearly about a public option vs. M4A.

Broken system when this guy is one of 9 people that gets the final say on everything. It’s been broken for a long time.

Yeah, the question on healthcare was about a public option (which Ossoff supports) and about whether you agree with investing in clean energy (which he also supports).

Not to say he shouldn’t support the GND or M4A, I don’t know how those specifically poll in Georgia, but wouldn’t be surprising if they have a negative overall connotation just because republicans were able to be effective at making dumb reasons to be a against them

My conspiratorial brain wants them to do that to really add insult to injury for Trump and make him have a heart attack.

Fair point, my own views probably led me to read those exit poll questions as asking about M4A and not just a general public option. The weaponizing of "Green New Deal" by the GOP is annoying me.

Yeah, I assume at this point that he has been pretty well-coached by his campaign on how to frame these issues and his positions for the GA electorate.

Roberts was never going to vote to get rid of the ACA, the question was always going to be where the fifth vote would come from, if it came at all

So severing the individual mandate won't really impact much of anybody? Or impact pre-existing conditions?

Totally agree! It's silly that we need to steer around those terms, even though the policies they represent have strong support pretty much everywhere.

if it came it was going to be brett or gorsuch regardless, so while i am surprised they got a fifth vote at all, I'm only mildly surprised it was brett
