the Dems in this case are the Dem leadership tho. Look at all of them...Pelosi, Schumer, etc...they all came into power during the Reagan Revolution and/or the Third Way era. Their entire political calculus is based on those experiences. Even the younger members of their caucus that are destined for bigger leadership roles who say the “right things” to tow the leadership line don’t sound as hardcore about their moderation as the Pelosi’s of the world do. They’re not all gonna suddenly become Bernie Sanders and support full on single payer in which private insurance is abolished, but I don’t see them standing in the way as much of a robust public health care system either.

I also still think at least part of this fight is about campaign rhetoric vs policy. Some Dems I think would much prefer my personal strategy of “lie about how you’re gonna be moderate and then do further left things and pretend they’re moderate to the media” just like Repubs do lol

The GOP’s “you lost get over it” motto of 2016 has now become “we got a lot of votes too so you have to work with us”

thankfully the democrats are led by strong willed principled progressives with no history of kowtowing to the right

Yeah I totally get that. Your country BADLY needs electoral reforms, because the obvious solution here is for the left to form their own party but in a two-party system it's doomed from the get-go.

Sadly, I can't see the US reforming itself to resemble anything even remotely close to a European proportional system.

This is random but how does Vermont have a Republican governor? Obviously it’s a very blue state so what are his views like? He must be pretty damn popular since he just won re-election by a big margin
