So I pretty much missed out on 60 pages worth of posts today because I drove across the state with my girlfriend to meet my family for the first time. Great day overall (my gf is totally team Biden/Harris) so the news that popped up this morning was a good start to our day. I wish we could join in on the collective fun in cities across the US but this clip from the Simpsons sums up the joy we had and footage we saw.

 

SNL delivered tonight better than I thought

 

On a personal note, I am excited for a Biden administration because I think it will definitely be helpful in my career prospects. I graduate next year with a civil engineering degree (and minor in environmental engineering). So hopefully, they will be putting infrastructure as a top priority and we can get some legislation passed by congress, or at least some executive action on that, which should be a good job creator in my field and give me more opportunities for a job. Especially if they put a focus on climate and the environment because environmental remediation and impact assessment is an area I am interested in focusing on.

hello thread I have been out being happy for the first time in a very long time, I know Biden sucks but I just wanted to be uncritically happy for maybe 10 hours, let me know if I missed any important news since roughly 11:30-noon today

Congratulations, all. Obviously, I couldn’t imagine what the past four years have been like. To see someone who incited hatred and openly supported white supremacy leading the US was just horrific. The Trump effect did stretch to here, and I take delight in seeing Sky News Australia pundits crying. I just want to say that I’m relieved that you finally have a LEADER and it’s inspiring to see Kamala Harris up there as the first female and first WOC VP - she’s going to change many lives. I hope that a Biden presidency puts pressure on conservative leaders - including the Australian PM - to actually combat the climate crisis. Also praying that Biden introduces Medicare for All. It’s more than necessary.
