While that is not what I was saying, yeah i do have a bigger problem with some of the surrounding countries that basically call for a second holocaust.

But as I was already told some pages earlier to "fuck off", I think it's best for me not to continue discussing my views on the middle east conflict here.

Being a left winger, but not vehemently anti israel, might be a small group, but it exists.

It might be a cultural difference, but as a trained Historian, growing up and working in Germany, please forgive me if i won't join in into the "fuck a whole country" (i.e. also its people and culture) tone. That is nothing but vile.

hey man as both a jew and a socialist I don't think that saying 'fuck Israel' is the same as saying 'fuck jews,' and it's also not saying 'every Israeli should be thrown in an oven.' it's a recognition that Palestinians have had their land and homes taken away from them and have been treated like animals. hope this helps

 

Not to derail the thread with this but your assumption that someone saying "fuck Israel" is an attack on all of the country's people and its culture is conflation; as is implying that it dismisses the problems with other countries in the region.

If I was to say 'fuck the U.S.' in response to its awful political decisions I'm fairly confident most if not all Americans in here wouldn't take it personally or assume I hated them based on their country's shitty politics.

Two things can be true. Anti Semitism exists and is a problem and the country of Israel is a ruthless oppressor. If someone says Fuck Israel Free Palestine they are clearly speaking on Israel’s oppression. To assume it’s anti Semitic is just deflecting and it’s the game that’s been played to enable Israel to continue to take the lives and dignity from the Palestinians with our country’s almost full support.

as a guy with a history degree, yes I’m very prestigious, living in an empire founded on settler colonialism, which is aiding another nation state also founded on settler colonialism, Israel, its just false to say Israel is not an apartheid state. There is nothing wrong with wishing all settler states, the US include to be abolished.

I personally don't tend to say "fuck [insert country here]" either when I hate a country's politics. I don't think it's a "vile" denigration of an entire country's population or culture to say it though when it's clearly aimed at a country's politics; in this case Israel's policy of apartheid against Palestinians.
