Comparing Israel to SA's apartheid regime is wrong on many levels.

 

I don’t think you’ve all got it in your heads how entrenched “I’m not racist but some of this racial justice stuff has gotten out of hand” thinking has become rote in the cohort you’re talking about.

We see it pretty clearly as a systemic racial bias. But if you’re trying to sway their vote (which for the record I do not think should be the goal) you’ve basically got to talk about something else and get them on your side in a completely different way. You’re just not going to convince large portions of people to care about systemic racism by just saying it exists... it’s why you saw a meaningful swing in public opinion towards BLM after the George Floyd murder — that was a clear cut example of old-fashioned oppression. But those voters aren’t going to go along with defunding the police, they’re going to go along with “reforming” it.

I guess what I’m trying to say is that there is a difference between correctly identifying the underlying motivational factors in voters and analyzing what (sometimes inane and less related) messaging it will take to win their vote.

 

I don’t think I need to parse out the differences of two apartheid regimes to make the point we should denounce both

 

Israel is not an apartheid regime.

That is not to say that many Palestinians arent treated horribly.

It is not his style to admit defeat. I don't think that he believes he can still win, but he can energize his base to mold a story around the election being stolen from him which he'll continue to harp on next year after he leaves the white house.
