Oh of course. I'm expecting shit way beyond what we saw this summer, with actual full on civil breakdown and large swaths of cities burned, and the troops will come and people will die.

I'd also bet money on SCOTUS getting torn the fuck up and damaged by protestors. No way that buildings makes it out unscathed.

If he wants to dispute votes isn’t that up to the courts in those states?

Sorry! My dad sent that tweet saying that it's been a big topic of conversation at his station this morning, so I was under the impression this was going to end up being a bigger story than it was. My bad.

Follow the polls or don't, but it is hard for me to not think about the fact that Trump is going to challenge votes and may be partially succesful in that

 

The large majority of looting in Philly this week has been done by opportunists who have nothing to do with the protests. Walter Wallace was shot in West Philly, but a large amount of the looting was across the city in Port Richmond (where there weren't any protests)

 

If you make more than $50k a year, there is no excuse for looting from small-to-mid-sized businesses.

 

In Defense of Looting

 

Love that the state has a monopoly on violence and can murder people around the globe and ransack countries for their natural resources, but taking a TV is beyond the pale.

I personally would not loot, but I’m privileged and have never been poor or desperate or felt under attack by an occupying force so I’m not going to judge anyone who does

 

You don’t need to actively defend looting. That makes the entire argument revolve around the ethical actions of the looters. You just need to say: looting *is going to happen* under X conditions. That much is fully out of any individual’s control. So if you don’t want looting to happen, then make sure X doesn’t happen. X is widespread poverty/injustice/etc etc. Who is responsible for causing those things, and who has the ability to stop it? The individual looters, or the wealthy/powerful?

 

Yeah but nobody here said "Looting sucks, wage theft is cool."

Looting sucks but you know what sucks more? Cops murdering black people. Keep looting until the Cops stop murdering black people.
