Feels disjointed and meandering for sure but enjoyable. It's very dream-like. Has kind of that fogged out feel and jumps suddenly from one place to the next, like how scenes in a dream change quickly

For those trying to make sense of this visual album.. The theory I read that made the most sense to me was the vid symbolizes the first album he intended releasing last year but scrapped. (Building a staircase, walking up it, down it and away) (him finalizing the project last year, not being satisfied with it in its entirety). These songs were likely b-sides/songs he still wanted heard. The very last song played after he walks up the stairs everyone finds super weird... Listen to the words... It's giving people shit for not living their lives/being glued to their phones/social media (likely a response to people nagging online about the album)

 

People saying it's boring and meandering intrigues me so much more about it. Alas, no Apple Music.

i heard it once last night and there were a lot of great moments, i see how it could come across as meandering though, i think a lot of it has to do with not knowing what track youre listening to at any given moment so its hard to have any solid points of reference. that could change as i listen to it more often but for now it can come across as some amazing sections in a sea of other sounds that could come across as meandering.

 

I've liked both his full lengths AND am totally down for atmospheric R&B, so I wouldn't be a bit surprised.

Also I always get so much more intrigued when it becomes clear that an artist subverted people's expectations.

 

Not doubting the quality of this or Frank's talent / ambition, but I'm not feeling this currently.

not liking it is fine, but saying "its scrapped bsides" and expecting him to drop an entire new album is just setting yourself up for disappointment.

And The New York Times also reported this would be out August 5th, and nothing was mentioned about a visual album. I wouldn't trust any publications until after Frank releases what he wants to release.

maybe i have trust issues but after that NYT thing I dont trust anything anymore. Also I think its most likely a lot of these songs will be in the actual album.

I think this is very good, definitely has a mixtape or bsides feel to it
