If I could just forget it

Meaning that the significant jump in hardware performance for each model and the yearly updates necessitates that they optimize their software for the latest and greatest only? I always hear talk of apple "purposely" slowing down old devices, but that sounds like a bunch of nonsense to me.

  2. The graph of how much faster iOS devices get, and the new features added to them to take advantage of those features, is on a much faster scale than those of the desktop variety.

I see, that makes a lot of sense. Thanks.

Got my first mac a couple days ago and am loving it so far. A little bit of a learning curve, but once I got a hang of it it feels so smooth compared to my old pc.

Only issue I've had so far is transferring my iTunes. I put everything on an external hd and moved it, and that seems to have worked okay. Only things missing now are what I imported with a cd. For some reason, those albums are all missing only specific songs. I guess I could reimport them if I find all the CD's but it's stuff I've been collecting since middle school, so a lot of the CD's are gone.

Have you tried Home Sharing? When I moved from PC to Mac I used it to move my entire library (about 5k songs) from one computer to the other and it was a painless and easy process.

Thank you, but I tried. The songs are still missing, unfortunately. I'm not sure why. Google hasn't helped much.

It's only certain songs on certain albums. the song name is there and everything it just isn't bold and it won't play or add to my device. it's grey like an unchecked item would be in iTunes. So I know the computer recognizes I have those songs, they aren't accessible for some reason.

I've only had it since February (got it second hand, in great condition), and it was actually fine until quite recently. Might be worth a trip to the shop though, I guess they can test the battery?

    I really hope not! :concerned:

I remember they had issued a thing on there website a while ago about replacing batteries for free for iphone 5. That deadline might be up now though since the phone is so old. I would still take it to apple cause they may still do it. They have great customer service.

I have been. Battery life has been about the same as iOS9, performance can be a little slow sometimes, but each Beta version has made improvement to that little by little

I guess it must be a security flaw that needed to be fixed fast since they only released beta 7 for iOS and not the rest.

Anyone still use iPods? I have an iPod Touch 64-gig (bought it 3 years ago) and anytime I sync with my iTunes on my MacBook, it's always an adventure.

A lot of times I get stuck on waiting to sync forever to the point where I have to restore iPod to factory settings which is a nightmare to set back up bc I have 40GB of music.

Other times, it'll sync but shows the wrong album artwork (always AFI Crash Love - probably bc its first album listed in my iTunes) with new albums I purchased from iTunes.

Sometimes it'll sync via wi-fi, sometimes not.

Another time random songs just started disappearing or were greyed out.

So frustrating. Anyone else experience any of this?

  15. I still have a 160 GB iPod classic, but I haven't used it much in the past year since my car's tape deck broke, and the only way I could play it in my car was through one of those aux-to-cassette adapters. The iPod still works great though.

I have that too. But that too stopped syncing years ago with my then Dell Laptop which is why I switched to the Touch. Perhaps I just have bad luck with iPods...

Still trying to solve this iTunes issue. If I turn off iCloud music library, I can't use Apple Music offline, according to what I found via Google.

If I leave the iCloud library on, I can't select which songs to sync to my phone and which to leave off. It'll just sync everything

Is that accurate or am I missing something? I would really like to be able to choose what to sync of my owned music and still have access to Apple Music... Seems like that shouldn't be too hard to do. Also, the grey songs from when I tried to transfer my library to my new Mac are still nowhere to be found. Guess I'll have to dedicate a day to finding all my old CDs and manually reloading them soon.

I love, love, love my first Mac, but I am so frustrated with iTunes right now. I just don't think it should be so hard to choose what to put on my phone.

That's true. The only thing you can do is sync things manually before turning on iCloud Music Library, because after you do so you won't be able to manually sync anymore.

Okay. Thanks for confirming for me. Do you happen to know if my AM downloads would re-download to my phone for offline if I turned off the iCloud library and manually synced before turning it back on? Or would I have to find and sync those on my phone again each time as well?

99% sure you'd have to find and re-sync them.

What's the best way to move all passwords stored in Chrome, over to Safari, or iCloud for that matter?

Wow. I'd lose my shit. I got a MacBook 2 years ago and was able to transfer about 50 GB of music, which was 90% imported from CDs...not sure why that wouldn't transfer.
