A little late to the party, but finally getting to play half life alyx and it's absolutely incredible so far, I think my jaw has been dropped pretty much the entire time and I've only just made it to the first couple of combat sections so my awe has been mostly from exploring and interacting. I've been playing it sitting down as I didn't have a long enough cable, but even with that, it's been incredibly immersive. I am playing it on the MSI GS66 laptop (the best buy version) and the oculus quest 2 with the cable that came with it (just got a faster 10' anker cord so I can play standing up and move around a bit more). I am also using the continuous movement with the snap turn (the continuous turn made me feel sick). Even with these settings though, I'm only able to do about an hour at a time before feeling a bit sick, especially if I start moving too fast throughout the world. 'Walking' (pushing the joystick slowly) was fine, but if things got frantic or I lost control when using the multi tool and starting moving around too fast, it became a bit much. Still, absolutely amazed by the game so far and cannot wait to play some more. For those who are thinking about the making the investment to upgrade to play it, I say go for it.

Also played disco elysium recently which is a totally different game, but also something I highly recommend if you're into RPG's and don't mind a heavy amount of text to read through.

I'm not tech savvy at all so I have been wary about the virtual desktop stuff that isn't official, but I'll look into it some more. Not having a cord to worry about getting tangled up in would be nice... I also am worried about losing quality with it being wireless and the lower the quality, the more I'm concerned about motion sickness. I'm new to VR experiences.

it's actually better quality than with the wire. My recommendation is, use your computer's wifi if you have one and make sure no one else is using that frequency. Also 5GHz is a must. I know it sounds like a lot but I PROMISE you it's transcendental.

this is a weird post since he's built an entire studio, licensed an engine and shipped an INCREDIBLE game in less than 3 years.

most MGS games famously took so long because he insisted on building them from scratch. Looks like he's learned from his mistakes.

Just beat Shadow of Colossus (remake) for the first time. Holy shit what an amazing game. I never played it when it originally came out and I'm kinda glad I didn't because of how beautiful the remake is. I love the feeling of how huge the colossi are and the simplicity of gameplay, yet still puzzle heavy trying to figure out how to defeat the colossi. Only negative is the wonky controls but after an hour or so I got used to it.

Death Stranding is one short game that repeats 3 times with an absolute nonsense story. I would hope it took less time to make
