Just watched the visit last night. Thank god for that ending because I pretty much hated the movie until the twist, which I thought was pretty cool. With that said, two of the most obnoxious kids/characters in recent memory.

All three of those Hell House movies worked on me in varying levels, guy really knows how to do effective scares with what must be very small budgets.

They get lower in quality as you go and the ending act of the third one is...something

I think they’re all fun and very scary.

But yes, they decrease in quality, but for me it’s like 7.0-6.5-6.0

It's slow, sad, and terrifying. It's wild that it was released less than two months before Black Christmas

Watched 2 episodes of Tales From the Crypt tonight (Strung Along and Split Personality). Haven’t watch since I was a kid - so fun!

I watched a handful of episodes from TFTC’s final British season late last night after recording. Completely forgot Ewan McGregor & Steve Coogan were on this show. Both of their episodes are batshit insane too!

I recently picked up the entire series on DVD, that’s how I’m watching mine

Maybe one day they’ll be on HBO Max

  21. TFTC are among the DVDs I bought when I was younger, didn't take care of, and they are now somewhere scratched up in my parents' basement. Don't want to rebuy them, but I would love to rewatch somehow.

I saw the complete series of TFTC at Walmart the other day for around 50-60 bucks, heavily debated picking it up but ended up passing. I should probably go back for it after all this talk.

Anyone have some good scary book recommendations? I am open to any and all suggestions. I love Stephen King, but have read most of his stuff already.

Last "scary" book i read was Jack Ketchum's "Off Season" which was fucked up but delightfully skin-crawly.

I loved Nick Cutter's "The Troop" and Paul Tremblay's "A Head Full of Ghosts". Love the more psychological-horror aspects of stuff, rather than the pure gore and mutilation type thing.

Have you read any of Joe Hill's stuff? Or anything else by Tremblay?

I have read Joe's "Heart-shaped Box" and loved it. I tried Tremblay's "Cabin at the End of the World", but didn't get into it...
